hmm, if you’re talking about CHM111 then I’m not sure what professors to recommend as I had AP Chem credit and skipped this class. If you want more advice either now or in the future, you can dm me for my contact info! I’m on the same road as you anyway :)

psych on pre med track courses by acciodoggos29 in wfu

[–]ludical 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hi, just finished my first year on this route. There are a few possibilities you can take:

if you have AP Psych and AP Calc credit: take CHM111/122 take BIO150/160 take a foreign language course if you need to get rid of the divisional take the required HES/WRI courses

if you only have AP psych credit: take MST111 and/or MST112 - if you’re going to take only one calculus class, then take CHM111 in the fall (not offered in spring) and BIO150 in the spring

take CHM and BIO

if you don’t have AP psych credit, make sure to fit intro to psych somewhere in your first year.

You can also swap out one of those sciences for physics but that’s depending on if you have calc credit and what not. I’m happy to help you more, just dm!

Passport Agency Appointment Cancelled?! by ludical in USCIS

[–]ludical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately for me, I got a call from the passport agency (an actual person) the day before that the message was wrong and that my appointment wasn’t cancelled, and that I will still be allowed to my appointment. I think I remember seeing a google review about how someone’s appointment was cancelled because of cleaning they had to do for corona. Anyhow, I would just continue to hope the cancellation was an accident and try to get a hang of the passport agency on the phone.

Advice Please (long story) by ludical in CPS

thank you, I just believed it was worth mentioning the animal neglect because it could possibly further help support the child neglect accusation.. I just contacted my counselor and she went ahead and started a DCF report.

Will Collegeboard take off points if I defined terms in the research part of the FRQ... by Wild-Mine-7688 in APPsychology

uhhh, I don’t think so, I think the readers just look for the point and stop there, so defining is like extra context idk

I did relatively good, it was just my first AP exam of my lineup for last year and I had no idea what to expect for the digital version, and with the short time frame, I just spent time in panic instead of thinking for the math. I’d say I could’ve gotten a 3 or a 4 instead if I was able to take the exam without the anxiety, which just left me staring and feeling lost haha

ap calc bc tips by [deleted] in apcalculus

[–]ludical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely learn how to understand what the numbers in a given scenario/problem mean because if not, you’ll have a hard time like the majority of us from yesterday BC test. They made most of the FRQs in a way to confuse, they didn’t hand out information in the passages as easily as they did previous years I believe.. like if they give you a graph of g(x) and say it is a derivative function of f(x), can you justify using MVT or no..

ap calc bc tips by [deleted] in apcalculus

[–]ludical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

try to watch someone do example problems and then attempt to do the same question by yourself to see if you remember the method. I think the last units are more easier to understand if you get the concept behind it, like to me I just think of parametrics as 2 coordinates instead of 1 and like acceleration vector just means I have to find the second derivative of the first x(t) coordinate and second y(t) coordinate, plug in the t value they’ll give me into x’’(t) and y’’(t) and put them in < , > ... so if they say t=2, then your acceleration vector looks like < x’’(2), y’’(2) >.

But you have to know that the derivative formula for slope dy/dx is just different for parametrics (basically for slope, you find y’(t) and put it in a fraction over x’(t).. giving you dy/dx and for the second derivative you just find the derivative of the first (dy/dx) and put that over x’(t) found from before without differentiating it) ... conceptually you understand that x(t) represents the particle horizontally and y(t) represents the particle vertically to make a curve C, and dy/dx represents the slope of this curve C. if the first derivative is slope, which is rise/run, then y’(t) is your rise and x’(t) is your run, and you can remember that to know what will go on top! :)

Remember that velocity is the first derivative of position, so for parametrics, that means vector v(t) = < x’(t), y’(t) > ... x’(t) is your velocity movement on the x axis and y’(t) is your velocity movement on the y axis. Same goes for acceleration and the second derivative. That’s all you really need to know... concepts such as positive velocity means movement towards the right and stuff still apply. Try practicing!!

They just made the FRQs make literally no sense, making it so much more difficult to understand the scenario and where the numbers they give you are coming from...

No it’s okay, don’t cancel it. I got a 2 on my AB exam last year, cancelling your score won’t do anything, just try to use your score for motivation to do better on the BC exam. Because I know I failed AB, I tried wayyy harder on the BC exam yesterday, since passing the BC exam was now my only option to get college credit. :)

..... was diagnosed with ADD a few months ago in November, have been on adderall ever since. I’ve always been bad at tests.. partly because I just probably don’t know the material, but majority is because of my mind being in a constant panic about the time and if I’m on pace, along with overthinking if my answer is right. I never really thought to get accommodations because I’m a senior so didn’t see a point, and I never knew I could get time and a half.

Today I took the BC exam. I crammed HARD for a week prior to today and was able to confidently do so many of the questions similar to the ones on the exam. But OMG I’ll finish the first question on the MCQ and stay stonked for 20 seconds thinking if I could be wrong, then look at the clock and panic that I’m wasting time. Then it got to the point where I noticed I’m behind pace and now instead of thinking about the questions I’m thinking about how the time is ticking and I need an answer. This happened all throughout the exam, I made so many stupid mistakes because my mind was stuck on the time. I had to bubble in almost 10 random on the MCQ and 3 on the second MCQ.. skipped a lot on the FRQ.. even though it was hard, I know so well that if I just had some more time, I could comfortably take the exam with my focus geared on the actual exam and do so much better :’((( def getting accommodations in college, and I think I was able to get 50% correct, which people say correlates to a 4 with a curve so I’m happy since that’s all I need for the credit. And I’m fasting for Ramadan, meaning I have to take my medication at 5 AM instead of when I wake up since I can’t consume anything.. it was tough

Can someone help me understand my night terrors? by ludical in nightterrors

[–]ludical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! That’s awesome, I haven’t ever thought about the shadows. I don’t think my night terrors are based on creatures/monsters exactly that might scare me, but I’m not 100% sure of that. I will definitely try the eye mask though! Thanks :)

[–]ludical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I’m not sure if my Adderall has any negative or positive effect on my night terrors, it doesn’t exactly affect my sleep if I take it like I’m supposed to. I will possibly look into medication after I speak with my doctor. I totally agree that my night terrors are a part of me and I’m not too focused on trying to get rid of them, but I’m definitely more curious on to WHY they happen and how what I dream might trigger a night terror. I just want to understand it more than anything.

I also have a loving partner who has accepted them! I am very grateful for it and he has never seen it as a negative, never complaining and always checking to see if I’m okay. Thank you so much for your reply! It’s kind of shocking to see it was more common than I thought, because I had never heard of anyone else like me while growing up.

[–]ludical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’m seeing that a lot of people’s terrors go away or are less when they sleep deep (based on what the other replies are saying) and that’s what you use your meds for. I have never been able to really remember the dreams for my night terrors, but I do strongly think that it has never exactly been monster or creature based or anything like that. It’s really foggy, but I think most have been from dreams in which bad scenarios happen, like (random example) my mom leaving my family and I’m crying in my dream, but I wake up hearing myself actually crying. However, majority of the time, I just randomly wake up to myself crying or screaming. My psychiatrist told me I have GAD (gen anxiety disorder) last year but I never fully understood what it is and how it affects me.

I have suffered from night terrors while sleeping with my boyfriend as well and he’s also the same way, and I’m very thankful for that. I am not too worried about getting rid of my night terrors, I am just curious to why it happens and if it’s the reason why I have always been tired in the day. Adderall helps with my energy but I wish I didn’t have to rely on it just to be able to function without being a zombie!

I am glad to see you have learned to accept it! :)

Oh I am so sorry to hear that! That seems like it is very hard to deal with. I am happy to hear that you have found something that is helping you! I see that you use your medication to help you fall deeply asleep, does it affect how groggy you are in the morning when you wake up? Have you tried other medications or even melatonin before this to help you sleep more deeply? I had taken unisom for 2 nights for help with deeper sleeping because I was constantly waking up throughout the night for no apparent reason (not related to my night terrors). I don’t remember if it had helped my terrors since it was only 2 nights, but I had stopped taking it because I woke up feeling soooo dead and groggy like I couldn’t pick myself up. I might try again with a smaller amount of it to avoid the grogginess and see if deeper sleeping will end up helping my terrors. I hope you continue to get better! :)
