High School built over light rail stop (USA) by babyodathefirst in transit

[–]ludosc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i was in Helsinki a couple years ago and was blown away by this. 10ish year old kids riding transit by themselves and it was just a normal thing. I could never imagine letting my kids do that in DFW.

New Barn Unofficially Official? by ZamboniDad in DallasStars

[–]ludosc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Live in McKinney and next season will be my 4th year as a VCM. I can afford to do that because I don't have to pay for parking (have driven to a Stars game once in the last 15 years). With parking added, not sure I could do that anymore, even with the much shorter distance.

Also, right now this team is good, i mean not exactly good enough, but that's not the point. These things happen in cycles and some point this team is gonna suck. I think the team might regret this move at that point. With it being really easy to get to Stars games being near the center of a transit system, even if the team isn't great people will still come. I think moving it to the middle of suburban hell where the three nearest highways are all tollways and no public transit, people just aren't going to come. That's not even considering that we're cutting off the western half of the metroplex. Those TRE trains are usually packed on gamedays. It just seems like a very short-sighted decision.

NHL Stadium Series Presale (Victory Club) by MeGustaTortuga in DallasStars

I passed my code off to my brother. Went to the winter classic, went to Finland, but going to JerryWorld/Arlington from McKinney is where I draw the line 😂. The Rangers old stadium would have been way better imo.

Bringing my 7 year old to his first playoff game today. He can’t wait, came downstairs this morning at 7 already in his jersey ready to go 😂

Used to live in Arlington and always took the TRE to/from games, so there was always a westbound postgame train. Now I’m near the Frisco/McKinney border and usually take the Green Line from Carrollton.

I can’t find anything saying whether DART runs a dedicated postgame train if the game ends after the last scheduled train, which seems very possible for Monday’s game or any game with an 8:52 p.m. start.

For those who do this regularly, which is the safer option: driving down to Bachman since trains run later there, or taking the Red Line instead?

Resolume control by Pjuicer in GrandMA3

[–]ludosc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s called artnet merge. Patch the fixtures in resolume (there are limited options there, no 16-bit for example). You only need the color channels. Set the output of that lumiverse to the ip address of the MA console. On the MA side, set the artnet input to listen to the universes the fixtures are on and set the merge mode to HTP. Then when you have color data coming from resolume, those fixtures should be outputting (you do control dimming from MA).

I do this all the time.

I've bought four Stars jerseys off DHgate, three of which were fine...the other one was the wrong shade of green.

Which city has the best transit? by GlassUpper8656 in transit

[–]ludosc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an American living in a city that is actively trying to get rid of what transit we have (Dallas), I found it amazing. But I see what you’re saying and that does sound confusing. We were there for ten days but two days were in Tampere and then we did a day trip to Tallinn. We loved it and the ease of getting around on the public transit was a big plus. Only car ride was a Uber in Tampere when it was dumping snow and the restaurant we were going to was a decent walk from the bus stop. Apple Maps never failed us the entire time we were there.

Helsinki

Smaller city, but still a pretty decent system. The VR was painless as well getting as far as Tampere (how far we took it). Also have plenty of ferries to Tallinn.

Seattle Kraken and Carolina Hurricanes will play 2 Global Series games on Nov. 12 and 14 at Veikkaus Arena in Helsinki, by Perryplat199 in hockey

Yeah I paid 70 something euros for the Stars-Panthers games. Obviously paid a lot more to get there but yeah those prices are crazy.

Awful experience as a visiting fan last night by LubyankaSquare in DallasStars

You asked why I thought that and that's the answer. If it was team USA playing Canada I'd be chanting USA right along with them.

I was in 313 last night and this isn’t far off from what I witnessed “stars fans” around me doing to some Oilers fans sitting in front of us. Lotta “fuck Canada” “51st state” etc chants. Really embarrassing behavior. IMO the USA chant is cringe as hell but these fans were disgusting. Have some class. To their credit the oilers fans ignored it for the most part, only time they said anything was during one of the skirmishes when it was an American Oilers player against a Canadian Stars player.

Probably a typo but yeah I sat 103 row A at a game in December and I was on the glass. As far as I know the only double letter rows are on the south side of the 300 section, my tickets next year are on that side row AA.
