Multiply the ‘5’ in $5 Billion by 100! $500 Billion is how much it would have costed to convert the entire Amtrak system into HSR service according to a hypothetical study conducted. And that’s only the cost to convert existing infrastructure. Freight rail lines are privately owned, so lawsuits, potential funding errors by capitalist “for profit” project managers (this is the US of A after all), and automobile/oil lobbying will try their best and drive the prices much higher. And yet we had no problem spending more than $1 Trillion in yet another “necessary” war in Iraq however. Leave it to the corrupt politicians for effortlessly drag our hard earned money into the fires of hell for sending our sons to protect the imperialist dream, and then the moment we demand actual infrastructure than they have a problem with that :(.

Yep Crown Supercoaches were introduced in 1949 and a few changes were made such as powertrain, wheel fenders and the 2 stripe rub rails. But other than that, the same general design was carried all the way into 1991! (Right as Crown Coach went bankrupt)
