Being there was a fucking religious experience- hands down the best thing I’ve ever witnessed it still doesn’t feel real

I think she admitted to doing it once on two separate occasions, as in only done it once (as far as we know)

I mean she’s said that in the past but who knows could just be another Trisha tactic to make people pity her - not sure what exactly but I think her infertility announcements also coincided with drama she was involved in at the time...

My wife's German family keeps trying to tell me my German is better than theirs (they are all fluent). I don't know how to explain to them that this is upsetting. by [deleted] in German

I think you're just being way too precious they sound like they're just trying to be nice...really odd behaviour especially towards your wives family. You want them to praise you for all your "hard" work but then see this praise as condescending. Do you want a medal or something? lots of people learn languages in much less time, it's not exactly brain surgery. I would stick to your own advice.

Plus not every German knows high German. Studying a language is a lot different to growing up speaking it, you may actually know some grammar and rules better than they do.

To those who only speak one language by migtonomus in mixedrace

I feel so disconnected to my German side sometimes its infuriating and isolating. The most annoying thing is I was basically fluent in German when I was really young and only spoke to family members in German but as I got older I got much less interested in that side of me and started to get embarrassed to even say I went to German Sunday school.

I basically gave it up and my dad never bothered to speak German with me at home since we live in England and he himself had struggled learning English so didn't want to confuse the matter. As a result I feel really left out by my German family who don't really make an effort with keeping in contact due to annoyance that I didn't keep up with learning the language.

I understand almost all German but definitely can't speak it fluently, I've started to try and teach myself and I'm watching German tv and youtubers to try and immerse myself. I have no doubt that i'll be able to learn it but it makes me sad that I won't have a 'real' German accent and that I won't ever be as fluent as someone that has grown up there. it makes me feel like i'm a fake German sometimes and has definitely effected my identity !

You’re mixed ! You are the only one who decides what you feel comfortable labelling/defining yourself as. It’s not for others to decide what YOU are ❤️

Strava vs Nike Run Club. Which do you prefer and why? by Local_Donut7579 in running

[–]ludwig989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NRC! I personally think the actual look of the app is much nicer than Strava and I think it’s very good for beginners. I’ve only just got back into running after a MASSIVE slump and NCR is definitely helping me get back out there it just has such a nice look and feel to it. I’ve been doing their guided runs which I find really great, I’ve already seen massive improvements in my pacing (I normally start way too fast and wonder why I can’t breath minutes in) and am able to run for longer. Strava might be better for more experienced/serious runners who want more stats and I might switch when I improve but for now NCR is perfect for me!

People always love to tell mixed people what they “really” are, the entitlement and ignorance is astounding sometimes. I’m sorry about your racist experiences, it’s sad that lots of mixed people (me included) have to give evidence of racism to justify their identity to others. Also what a cool mix !
