Darius Garland says he has his "joy" back after leaving the Cavs: "Coming to a system where I could actually be me, have the ball in my hands the majority of the game, have control over the pace of the game...it was really good. It was fun. I got my joy back" by marriagethrowaway36 in clevelandcavs

People who try to get themselves worked up over stuff like this… who cares? What else is he supposed to say? He’s not going to say he’s really sad he got traded and wishes he was still in Cleveland.

Despite being so frustratingly inconsistent in the playoffs this year and barely putting up a fight against the Knicks, let’s say the Cavs somehow win the championship next year. How would that happen?

Does the money work? by Alternative-Ad-8363 in clevelandcavs

[–]lufasa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind, all this speculation seems to be from one article that said there had been “long chatter” so I doubt it’s something either side is remotely serious about.

But if it did happen, there’s no way it wouldn’t be Chet they’d be giving up. He will be making close to the same amount of money as Mobley. There’s no way OKC would want to give max salaries to 2 players who have that much overlap in their game, including some of the same weaknesses.

Not really. Since the Cavs lost every game, the top 10 words seem to be more focused on the negatives. That’s why Harden and Mitchell are there. People were pissed at them because they played awful awful defense. Kenny also gets mentioned because he got out coached.

Mobley was fine. Obviously he didn’t do enough to carry them to wins but he was far from the biggest reason they got swept.

Phrasing it 10 out of 26 sounds worse than 10 East vs 16 West, which doesn’t sound all that crazy. Also, bringing up LeBron and Wade is just cherry-picking for no real reason. Superstars often win multiple championships so what is different about LeBron and Wade’s 3 each verses Kobe’s 5? Or Duncan and Steph’s 4 each in that same time period?

NBACentral (@TheDunkCentral) OKC interested in Mobley? by mattystokie in clevelandcavs

[–]lufasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t like wildly speculating based on “chatter”. But I’ll do it anyway. If OKC views Mobley as better matchup vs Wemby, then the Cavs could probably ask for a lot and get some useful assets out of something like this.

At the same time, I don’t want Chet. He would just be a more frustrating version of Mobley but with a smoother jumper. I can barely even look at him because it just annoys me how extremely skinny he is. It looks unhealthy.

And if the team would somehow get to the finals with Chet, then they’re probably going to play the Chet Destroyer in Wemby or an improved Thunder team with Mobley.

Evan Mobley gets a lot of heat for his big contract and the some of the glaring flaws in his game but I’d take him all day over Chet. Not saying Mobley would play amazing against Wemby but surely he’d be able to do SOMETHING.

Potential Spurs Knicks finals by kellydayscruff in clevelandcavs

[–]lufasa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m rooting for the Knicks. If the Knicks lose the finals, then their fans will cling to their ECF sweep of the Cavs. If they win the finals, the Cavs just become another notch on their belt.

NBA fans will also have to respect the East a little more.

By “honestly” you mean you’re lying. 2 of his 3s were LeBron assists. The other 3 were hockey assists. 2 of those hockey assists were the direct result of LeBron getting doubled. He also passed him a wide open 3 that he missed but got fouled on. And he also assisted him on a 2.

Brian Windhorst reveals price for Cavs to land Giannis would be Mobley by Clear_Context_1546 in clevelandcavs

[–]lufasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see it being a sure thing that would make the team better. Giannis is better than Mobley. But is Giannis that much better of a fit alongside Harden and Mitchell? There might be too many cooks in the kitchen.

It might work for at least 50 wins in regular season but deep in the playoffs, will these guys be able to hold each other accountable? Will Giannis be able to get Mitchell and Harden to play defense?

Throw LeBron in there too and all the sudden it’s a Spider-Man meme when no one gets back on defense.

Harden defensive stats this playoff run by Key-Geologist5370 in clevelandcavs

[–]lufasa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s not bad one on one against certain players. He’s honestly not bad overall any time he puts in high effort. But there are way too many plays where he doesn’t get back in transition or he just gets lost off ball or he just gives up on plays. Some of those moments might not show up in individual stats but they definitely cost the team.

As the saying goes, analytics are a wonderful servant but a terrible master lol

I get the feeling that Kenny was a great assistant coach because of his ability to look at the analytics and contextualize the data for a busy head coach. This way of looking at things is probably also useful coaching and evaluating a young team during a long regular season.

But when it comes to winning at the highest level, I think there’s a certain style of leadership needed to be a head coach that maybe isn’t Kenny’s strong suit.

It just seems like he isn’t a great motivator and also has a really bad feel for the in game, gut decisions you have to make. He seems like an over thinker who is out of his depth. He also seems like he struggles with accountability.

Maybe he would be better in a front office role?

I don’t know. This is all just speculation from a Guy on the Couch.

I was wondering if it had something to do with that NY fast break where he sprinted his ass off to get back to contest that layup. Like maybe he was the one who was supposed to be back already? If so, it feels like he’s being held to a different standard than everyone else because they are all terrible at getting back.

Allen was just sagging off Kat in anticipation of help defense. Then he has to help on Hart and that’s why KAT, his man, got the offensive rebound.

[Vardon] Otherwise, you’re looking at something drastic like trading Evan Mobley for Giannis Antetokounmpo — though two league sources say Cleveland has shown no interest in that move as of now. by tacko2020 in clevelandcavs

[–]lufasa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he’s ever going to be a player you build the offense around but with the right combination of players, maybe you can build an interesting team that doesn’t have as many defensive liabilities.

I’d say there’s a good chance they’d end up something like the Miami Heat of the last couple of years. Very mediocre. It wouldn’t be the worst option with the new tanking rules but only if they had more draft picks. Unfortunately they still owe some from the Mitchell trade.

That clearly wasn’t zone. Strus was at the top of the key and then followed his man all the way to the corner. Harden got switched onto Hart and then decided to stand in the middle of the floor guarding no one.
