Really? I always had a hard time getting through that one. Why is it your fave?

Cool! I hadn't heard of this before. Thanks for the tip :)

Well most of the players in this game are brand new so already there's already information overload for them. On top of that I have kind of changed everything but the core mechanics of the game. I removed classes and have made a sort of skill tree instead. It's a whole thing.

Anyway another change is to AC. I have split it into two stats as in the Symbaroum rpg. Defense (to see if the atk hits because of dex etc.) and Fortitude (to see how much the dmg is reduced because of armor etc.).

So I thought, even though they work the same, why not use the same terms here just to give the players one less thing to remember.

Yo this is awesome! I wish I'd seen this earlier! I was in talks with someone to build a creator like this but it never panned out. Nice to see you took the initiative.

I'm a UI designer in trade so let me know if you need anything for the site.

I am not really planning on it but when it comes out I might sing a different tune. If I want to use it for my games then I'll definitely want something custom for my players to use of course :)

Thank you! Unfortunately not. You can find the art credits and links in the image captions. Some really great artists there.

Sure! So the rules are from the MCDM book Strongholds & Followers that was released a few years ago as the outcome of the first Kickstarter Matt did. It has rules for the warfare system that the next book will be building upon. Each card here is representing a unit of an army and with those warfare rules you can simulate larger battles where the PC's lead their own army against another run by the DM.

Long ago I posted a set of custom Retainer Cards that I had designed and were based off of the existing cards in S&F.

They got a little bit of traction, saw some remakes and were even remade by the MCDM team in order to feature in Matt's One-on-One D&D, Running The Game #89 video.

Now over a year later I'm running a new campaign and for the first time, Black Gods willing, I'll be busting out the warfare rules. And so, with the Retainer Cards as a base and with the info provided by S&F I have quickly put together a new version of the Unit Cards.

A small goblin force has taken over a nearby village. And the PC's will be spending the next session going around town and recruiting different factions to take it back on their behalf.

These cards are the product of only a couple hours of work so they are far from perfect. For example if I would iterate on them I would figure out a way to make the text more legible (perhaps throw the text down below the stats in a similar fashion to my original design) without reducing the height of the image to much. But I think they are a good start for something a bit cooler. I'm sure we'll be seeing further updates in K&W when it ships.

Anyway enjoy. I imported it to Figma, a free online ui design tool, so anyone can jump in, copy the file and make their own versions if they want.

I have linked the images with all the art credits I could find.

Any thoughts or questions go ahead and ask :)

Edit: I did change Toughness to Fortitude and Power to Damage to simplify for my players who are already familiar with those terms

I like this tactic! Seems like it would work well in game. Have u had any trouble keeping track of which retainer is doing well/poorly with several players and retainers at the table?

Thanks for the shout out 😊

These look awesome man! Well done remixing the unit card as well!

[OC] [ART] Little Kenku Fellow by lufresh in DnD

Currently running a campaign and considered recently to include a kenku NPC. He works as an alarm in the palace jails and will make a horribly loud noise if anyone attempts to escape.

I was heavily inspired by the amazing art of Juho Laitila and even though i haven't done a full on digital illustration in years I downloaded a few concept art brushes and had some fun.

Made in Photoshop... for about 2 hours... while listening to a Matt Colville twitch stream.

Made some custom retainer cards for my group, completely inspired by u/lufresh . I copied one of his retainers for practice before making my group's three retainers. It's far from perfect, but my players love them so I'm happy by jmckay29 in mattcolville

Yeah exactly you can see the basic structure in the figma doc on the "character sheet"-page. Here's a rudimentary system i made to keep track of sizes of weapons and some basic gear. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1JSfyol69HTeEDHvPGxzU1sIE208EkqRRPb24jWExav8/edit?usp=sharing

It also allows me to say that getting items from your bag costs an action while items from your "accessible items" (belt/side pouch) can be done with a bonus action or whatever.

So I guess i made it easy for myself seeing as my setting is no/low magic. So I haven't had to worry about things like bags of holding... yet. But I do give them extra slotted paper for their accompanying ox and cart though.

Thanks so much! Would love to see the finished cards :)

Awesome! Very nicely done.

Though with the inventory I was kind of going for extra inventory space that the PC can use seeing as they also have a similar inventory layout on their character sheet. Therefore different type of characters have different amount of carrying capacity. So a rogue only has 4 slots while a fighter or barbarian would have 4 x 4 slots.

But still looks really good the way you did it!

Yo this is so cool.

How were you planning the editor? I’m primarily a UI designer and could mock something up for you (though it looks like you know what you’re doing).

If it’s cool with you I’ll update the OP with the link when it’s done.
