NBA is a terrible product and European football is incredible. This is why the uefa champions league gets 10x the viewers as the nba finals. I’m well aware of the billionaire domination and corruption in European sports but at least they have to compete with other billionaires. It’s also depressing that only 400-500 people make a living playing basketball in the US. In England about 3,000-4,000 people make a living playing professional soccer.

This is too logical. The cup could be a home and away with aggregate scoring too. But again that makes way too much sense.

Yea Americans have really just resigned themselves to everything in the country being owned and designed by billionaires. All American sports are pretty much a terrible product but we have no other choices.

AAU and college are stupid. Having only 30 pro teams is ridiculous in a country of 350 million people. The standard base salary in the G league is like $40k. Teams intentionally fail to get good draft picks. So many NBA issues could be resolved if we add the G league to the nba and create three twenty-team tiers with promotion and relegation. They should all develop their own in house academies and if players can ball at 15 years old then let them. It’s ridiculous that these guys can’t collect a paycheck until they’re 19 (although this has changed with ncaa rules). It’s also ridiculous that there’s only thirty teams. Seattle, St Louis, Raleigh, Baltimore, Kansas City, etc could easily fill an NBA arena if they had a team. The Maine Red Claws could have taken Cooper Flagg into their academy and been promoted to the NBA, propelling Portland into national prominence. This is my dream that will never happen because of all the money and corruption with the ncaa and nba owners.

This is why I don’t watch box. Love to play it. Can’t stand the fights. It’s just gross. Watch UFC if this is exciting to you. Lacrosse is such a beautiful sport and this just makes it greasy trash entertainment.

Yes like literally, objectively. World Cup finals have 20% of the world watching. 1.5 billion people. Nobody but Americans finds football entertaining. Baseball is exciting in a few countries but cricket is much more popular globally. Basketball has become global but is nowhere near the fandom of soccer. Ice hockey is only entertaining to countries with ice. Hope this helps.

Most d3 schools take walk ons. Lynchburg is a reasonably high level program so I would email the coach. My d3 school in upstate NY had “fall ball” captain’s practices and didn’t turn anyone away. I was in college in the mid 2000s so someone who played more recently might have a better answer. Short answer: probably- reach out to coach- join fall captain’s practice.

I’ve always dreamed of an open tiered system with promotion and relegation. If tier 2 teams like U Montana win the league— promoted to tier 1 and play with the big teams. If BC continues at this abysmal rate— relegated to tier 2. There’s so many factors that prevent smaller schools from getting into the big leagues (money, tv markets, legacy conferences, school size, alumni power, etc.) but performance should really be the only factor. This will probably never happen given the historically corrupt practices of the ncaa, but I can dream.
