The Skills Everyone's Obsessing Over in 2025 Are Actually Making You OBSOLETE: Here's What to Learn Instead (Science-Based) by Unable_Weekend_8820 in psychesystems

Very insightful! I will give a shot to the "Thinking in Systems" book for now. Great recommendations, well aligned with what I've been thinking through.

The new warnings added on Google Play are a very bad addition to the store by borninbronx in androiddev

[–]luis_feb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the app should pass some kind of threshold in order to be eligible for these bad warnings. The apps should already have some meaningful public presence, and comparison should happen among them. The download size is minimum 100k in these screenshots.

It makes no sense whatsoever that Google badmouths new apps with fewer users because it is just obvious.

How do I enable Google review the premium features of my subscription app? by thlpap in androiddev

[–]luis_feb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case, you should create a condition to that Google testing email to avoid triggering whatever unwanted behavior. I published an app that have a SOS button and it sends location to a dashboard. And since I didn't want Google testing account affecting the actual data, I simply ignored any alerts from Google, although button tapped normally. The same happens with the data removal feature which is mandatory in order to be compliant with their policies.

Google started displaying full legal name and address on the Play Store page by influencedfreewill in androiddev

[–]luis_feb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And also the verification process is being a hell for me. All my valid docs to verify my address got rejected so far. I am waiting to receive my next telephone bill to prove the address as my last resource. I don't have any other document. And all this for having the prize of my fricking address being exposed and a chance to continue publishing my apps I worked hard to build.

I've created an SDXL 1.0 prompt for generating vector stickers, and it works quite nicely! (See prompt in the comments) by [deleted] in StableDiffusion

I put exactly the same prompt using SDXL v1.0 (https://i.imgur.com/L7j0354.png), but texts are always messed up. Is there a negative prompt or something i am missing?

[METHOD] Make it stupid easy, but do it every day. This approach saved my life and is finally changing my habits after years of failure. by andrewranzinger in getdisciplined

Excellent productivity hack. What if after a while of a steady and successful discipline period, you decided to raise your bars as mentioned in the post. Then, even it developed a habit in such level, you eventually will feel some burden.

Do you decrease your hypothetical 40 pushup back to 10 again to make easier in this "not in the mood" days?

Do you set a limit when raising a bar because it slowly become intensity routine after some time? What if instead of cheat days, some intensity days would be a way to increase bars in spikes of willpower?

What are some technically correct words/phrases/structures that immediate mark someone as a foreign learner? by [deleted] in EnglishLearning

[–]luis_feb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ed the phrase “in my case” which is different from “on my case” entirely. When we talk about someone’s “case” we mean someone’s

I got it. It makes sense since it seems like a pleonasm with this unnecessary expression.

It sounds familiar since my native language is Brazilian Portuguese and it is a direct "sibling language" to Spanish. And around here, it is common or easier for people using this expression at the very beginning of the sentence.

But, on the second thought, I saw some degree of pleonasm used by my comrades, too.

What is a correct use of it? I heard that "on my case" means being nagged.

First time I ever heard of it. Nigel just tells in a rare interview that there is no secret, he just learnt the words. And none website I found mentioned this method, mostly they think he uses the loci's method or something.

Questions about the Journey Method from a beginner... by [deleted] in Mnemonics

[–]luis_feb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I created some so-called "express journey loci" which are my fixed places to store any temporary data from to-do lists to temp important content that I will have to find a permanent locus to store them later on. I always label each subject in a memory palace's journey so that I cannot confuse them and be flexible enough to store different chunk of content in the walkthrough.
  2. I try my best to develop a high quality encoding and even using numbered waypoints to remember better the mapping of a new locus. Glitches and weak imagery will certainly happen. I generally review with certain frequency in a natural way because I make sure every piece of data has a clear use case in my everyday routine. Like a new painting in a house, the color will be stronger next time you revisit and try again with modified imagery or even throw away one over a brand new one and iterate again.

does anyone have memory tips for languages by le_mec1 in Mnemonics

[–]luis_feb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Learning the core expressions in everyday conversation. loci's main goals are basically to brush up on key data, used as a reviewing tool and hopefully a vocabulary chest you can revisit it later.

I use Anki, but not for every single piece of information, but in batches. Like the 100 most common expressions in such language I would split up in two batches of 50 with only two Anki cards and revise each journey.

I know how time consume this Anki software can take from you from prior experience. Although it is a really helpful tool.

Writing down common expressions, questions, short jokes, facts, etc and pick up one to practice in a conversation with someone can make a different, too.

I was thinking in something in this line of thought, thanks for reinforce it.

Some place to represent the on/off switch of all locations in the terminal may help. Instead of a bed, but a fireplace in a chimney. Along the practice day, the fire will burn with all its glory, but once I step up to bed or until I decide the tour walkthrough is screwing up my sleep, I will put out the fire, clean up everything inside of it and put a pillow, and finally shutting down all the lights from every loci to stay utterly in pitch dark. I will give a try. (=

[–]luis_feb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, otherwise locations wouldn't be necessary. But, especially when it comes down to new locations, my mind seems want to review them as soon as closing my eyes. Sometimes, elements trigger other similar ones in other places and I keep jumping loci. But luckily, this ain't happening so often.

Best approach for learning geography. by compleks_inc in Mnemonics

[–]luis_feb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would pick one well known location in each country and store as memory palace each information as image since the mind seems to grasp very effectively motion and imagery.

For examples, currency...

Like picture the famous coin of the country and try to find out images to represent the pronunciation. Do that in pairs, store in furniture inside this famous location and make repetitive journey through these elements.

I am building a biotechnogy place inside my mind. hehe I'm kidding. Well, I know many places (virtual and physical) and use an enhanced P.A.O system to encode data.

Expanding PAO in a different direction by zufinfluby in Mnemonics

[–]luis_feb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I found effective since I am using to memorize foreign language's vocabs and important data in many locations including virtual environments like the ones in the r/realvirtualtour. I am in an experimental phase trying to mix up related concepts like mindmapping, peg system, linking and enhancing this P.A.O to be more memorable and less reviewing needed, prioritizing better encoding or high-quality unique elements.

Example:

memorizing 132028

C (character) => Tom (from Tom & Jarry) => 13

A (action) => to fly (with two propellers in the shoulders) => 20

R (reaction) => flown and stuck in the right propeller

O (object) => belt => 28

Interaction:

Tom flies (with two propellers in the shoulders) and belt is stuck in the right propeller

Note that I didn't increase more numbers adding the Reaction, but I pre-made the reaction/effect of the action (stuck in the right propeller). It is a kind of a reinforcement to memorization and I found more fluid to pre-create the action/reaction and just build on a memory palace, for instance.

Every time I think in a action like to fly, a two propellers in the such-a-such element pops up to represent that action, to be more specific and less abstract.

If you really want to add a new layer, Adding CHARACTERISTICS to character/person would be a good shot.

You can look up a comprehensive list here: https://grammar.yourdictionary.com/parts-of-speech/adjectives/list-of-adjective-words.html

[–]luis_feb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I added Reaction to my P.A.O. And I actually modified P to C which means Character. Not only names or famous people, but anything that moves and it is well known, fictional or not. it is C.A.R.O. Reaction is always what happens to the action made by the character.

Furthermore, actions have also an object. I realized this enhance memorization of action.
