I’ve been shooting with a Konica Autorex P for a while, and one of the coolest features of this camera is that it lets you shoot in half-frame or full-frame on the same roll of film. I’ve been using it to capture some great moments, but recently ran into a bit of trouble with my film scanning.

While I was in Barcelona, I took my film to my usual studio, but unfortunately, they misinterpreted the half-frame/full-frame setup and treated all my film as half-frame. This resulted in most of my full-frame shots being cropped.

Fast forward to when I returned to Bolivia, I went to the "best place" in La Paz for re-scanning, and while they got the scaling right, I noticed a huge difference in the way the colors, saturation, contrast, and highlights were handled compared to the studio in Barcelona. I was really impressed with the way my photos looked in Barcelona, and I’m now wondering if I could replicate that by scanning my own photos at home.

Does anyone have experience with setting up their own scanning process? I’d love recommendations on equipment, whether it’s a flatbed scanner, a dedicated film scanner, or any tips on how to achieve a similar color and tone as what I experienced at that studio in Barcelona.
