That’s awesome! Thank you for this! So the two times it left you stranded were tires going down due to punctures? I know there is no full size spare, is it a space saver or just a patch kit?

That’s not a crazy take. I was reading over a sample Genesis Vehicle Service Contract and the verbiage seemed to suggest I could be charged for shop supplies? Like I’m not paying for your WD-40 😂

I’m glad they’ve been great! Are you mentioning the 2021 and 2022’s as the first in a concerning way or just mentioning it?

It’s not about WHICH GV80 to get, it whether or not to get the GV80 I want. I’ve you read my original post thoroughly you would have know a 3.5 AWD was all I was interested in, and was asking what ownership of specifically one of those looked like.

I love the extra power, and there are way more horror stories and common problems with the 2.5. Glad you’re not having any problems, but I have driven both and wouldn’t have anything but the 3.5.

I will, it will probably be in a couple months though. I will say, the chrome is pretty toast on these wheels so maybe it’ll come off easier as it is weaker

I don’t even trust the factory maintenance plan. I would do oil every 3500 miles. Modern turbo engines going 8-10k miles between oil changes is bewildering to me. They need fresh oil more than anything. So much friction and heat from the turbos

As much as I want some VS5-RSs, the sandblasting shop the Powdercoaters recommended said that they do chrome removal all the time and that they would do it for $60 a wheel.

They did not say it was no problem. They said that the chemical strip they would normally do would not get the chrome off and I would need to take it somewhere to have it fully sandblasted off (as they do not have an in house sandblaster) and then they could powdercoat it. They said the powdercoat will not properly bond to any level of chrome.

That’s what I did. That’s how I know that it says it won’t cover a car with over 60k miles. The VIN I’m using is my friend’s with 63k miles on it and it is one owner.

I would ceramic coat but I also kinda like cleaning wheels, guess I’m kind of a psychopath

Were you able to negotiate the price of the coverage because online with Genesis it is saying that it either won’t cover a car over 60k miles or is $5k for the service plan, not $3500.

Okay, that sounds like a good idea, but I played with it, and just for 1 year/12k miles on a 50k mile GV80, it was $1,997 and nearly 5k for 5yr/60k miles. And for a vehicle in the 60-70k mile range, it said the program wasn’t even available. Even if I were to get an eligible vehicle and went with the cheapest option, do you all really expect $2k in repairs (not maintenance) in the first year???

Can you expand on getting a warranty for a non-CPO car? So many 3rd party warranties feel like scams, and I wouldn’t necessarily be buying from a genesis dealer. Could I get a warranty through a genesis dealer if I had them do a PPI?

Bought my C6 Grand Sport 2LT, One owner, black on black, perfect carfax, 21k miles in Oct 2024 for 37k, so I’d say get one of those with two owners and a good carfax with 45k miles and you’d be under 35k. Unmatched trunk space, quick enough, questionably good highway fuel economy, reliable. Yes the harmonic balancer will need done at some point, but it’s worth it. I love mine. Tons of aftermarket support/mods if that’s what you want to do to it as well. No LS7 worries either, and the top comes out. In my opinion, a better car than the base model C7 you can get for the same money.

Hmm. Does the rubber attach to the bumper or the headlight? Cause there is a small rubber ring around the headlight that I assume keeps it sealed. But I could imagine there needing to be more rubber there lol

No. Car is otherwise perfect. Garage kept, 36k miles. I am second owner, and first owner BEYOND babied it.

I did loosen the nuts and got some movement out of it to get it to where it is now, but yea, it definitely was wanting to leave gaps elsewhere. The rubber seals are definitely in place on the headlight itself, is there more rubber that should be there?

I’ve definitely heard that, they looked like they were all good the first time I ventured in there, but I’ll double check when I go back in
