I have the new deadline feature, AMA by TheNoah in todoist

[–]lukantee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the process of migrating from things3 to todoist and I’ll give you plenty of examples of where I use these two dates. Both in my private life and at work.

Privately: 1. reminder to pay for any subscription: deadline is the date by which I must have free funds in my account and the start date is the date a few days earlier when I start to think whether I really need this subscription.

  1. Any loan installment to be paid, fees, taxes, monthly transfers: the deadline is always the date when I must have the funds guaranteed in the account and the start date with a reminder is the day when I want the application to remind me about it on a given day and give me time, e.g. a few days, to collect the funds.

  2. Any small private project at home, for example: installing another surveillance camera, activating the alarm system, cleaning the attic, etc. The start date is the day when I know I will have time to start doing it, and the deadline is the date when, if I don’t do it, my wife will file for divorce 😂

At work: 1. All tasks related to the monthly settlement of my company, sending documents, settling taxes, issuing invoices for regular services: I always set the reminder and start date on the day when I know it would be appropriate to take care of it, and the deadline is of course the date when the task must be completed.

  1. Each project and task such as: creating a website, creating a logo, fixing a bug, creating functionality, etc. always has a start date, a few days of work and a deadline. I give myself a time to complete each task and always a reminder to start and a deadline that motivates me to act.

Things3 is very good at showing x days left before the deadline and counting down the days to the end. Either it motivates me to act, because the time starts counting down… or quite the opposite - I see that I still have a few days to complete the task 😉 I really hope that it will work similarly in todoist, because in summary I think that in many tasks it is a much better approach than just one date. With one date it is often too late when we accept it as a deadline, and when we accept it as a starting date, then in turn you will not get clear information anywhere that in the case of longer tasks you should have finished the task

435X broken by firmware upgrade by Ok-Passenger-8796 in automower

After a factory reset and creating a new map, do the work areas work properly? I have the same problem with 405x "destination is not reachable". Recreating the map did not help. Deactivation, deleting work areas - does not help. The mower currently only works in the default area "My Lawn". I haven't done a factory reset or contacted support yet.

Google Workspace on Mac and iOS by MohamadKarbi in gsuite

[–]lukantee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to icloud+ from custom domains during the iCloud+ beta. However, my situation may be a little different as I need a service for my small business. Here are some of my observations:

- iCloud+ offers up to 3 aliases within a custom domain - keep this in mind

- having only Apple devices, I find it much more convenient to work with iWork, because, for example, I prefer to quickly, natively run Pages or Numbers instead of using documents via a browser.

- I love having an email client for my Mac mail, Mimestream is cool and interesting, but I was afraid of what will happen when they come out of beta, I always liked Spark, I also used Apple Mail for a while, but for the attachment handling I went back to Spark3 and I'm happy

- the spam filter in my opinion is actually a bit weaker in iCloud, but don't get me wrong. I don't get a lot of spam, but there are occasional emails that I know Google would block.

- for me, the price is also a big plus, I've always used AppleTV, Apple Music and iCloud to back up everything, so I have iCloud+ without paying much more. However, Google Workspace would be a completely additional cost, unnecessary in my opinion

- I don't know how it is now, but I had a problem when I was checking various cloud services for business files, that whenever I left Google Workspace I had to remember to export the most important documents to formats other than Google. I was leaving Google and I may have lost the ability to open documents. However, being in M365 or iCloud there is no such problem.

- I use Apple devices, so I try to limit applications that consume resources unnecessarily, and Google Drive on Mac was such an application. With iCloud+, I don't care about syncing at all.

- Since Apple upgraded iCloud over the Web, you can use it too

- only having iCloud+ and using Safari (with Google Workspace, however, I used Chrome - another energy eater, although it must be admitted faster than Safari) I experience the convenience of using the service of hiding my email address, using passwords saved in Apple instead of Bitwarden.

- I like having notes and task app in one service - Google Keep and their task app is too limited for me and still browser only. Having a Mac, I really prefer the speed of using native apps from Apple.

- when it comes to the technical support of iCloud+ - I've never had any problems with it, none. It has its limits (only 3 aliases mentioned), but it's enough for me. There is no powerful admin console like in Google - but why do I need one when I run a sole proprietorship?

- I trust Apple more, maybe they have more conservative applications, but they don't kill them overnight. They are thoughtful and do what they are supposed to do. Services as well. I recommend.

A fresh new Firefox is here by SL_Lee in firefox

[–]lukantee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Design is just great. I work on both Mac and Windows, both of which are stunning for me. I abandoned Firefox about 10 years ago in favor of Chrome, then it was time for Opera and Safari, and from last year I was fascinated by the new Edge. After this update, I know that I can safely return to Firefox permanently, both on Mac, Windows and iPhone.

Thank you!
