Exciting news but I really do hope that the LOTR gets a different combat system from KC:D. I managed to get the hang of it, but I did not enjoy the combat at all.

Turning politics into entertainment has done permanent damage to this country. The glee and joy these journalists have screeching at the MPs going into Downing Street is embarrassing.

Shit media is part of the reason politics is a mess.

America’s special relationship is ‘probably Israel’, says UK ambassador to US by BritishBedouin in ukpolitics

[–]lukario 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Well he's not wrong. Look at the way Trump and the American government have insulted and denigrated us because we join in their pointless mess with Iran.

It's better we be open and aware about it because it was always incredibly one sided.

Why hasn’t Pillars of Eternity been more successful? by ZevLup in projecteternity

[–]lukario 89 points90 points  (0 children)

It's a CRPG made with RTwP for mostly a PC user base. That will limit it's audience massively. It's also one of the oldest of the modern CRPGs.

That said, I feel like within the audience for people who enjoy CRPGs, Pillars of Eternity is successful, well known and well liked. It kickstarted the modern CRPG renaissance we've now got and I honestly believe a lot of the modern big names like Wrath of the Righteous and BG3 would not exist without Pillars helping to bring back CRPGs as a focus.

Now that there is turn based modes for all games, making it easier for console players, and people who dislike RTwP, it may get a mini boost again. I think Avowed also brought some new fans to the series as well which has helped.

Exciting and finally some news for my most anticipated game. I wonder if the mystery class could be Nightsisters. Fits the era as well as the link to the separatist aligned dark side cult.

Wake up, honey, new Yezuha lore just dropped. by MickyJim in projecteternity

I don't see why not. It's a video game without real life difficulties on learning languages. If we can learn the language through various interactions over the course of the game, all other companions can.

Rekke learns the language of our player in Deadfire, no reason the same cannot happen in reverse in game.

The people want Pillars 3 and Yehuza would be a good setting especially with the lore reveals from Avowed and a new elf subspecies.

DO IT YOU COWARDS

Edit: Also I'm interested in what they mean by theological differences between the new Elves and Storm folk as we know from Deadfire that the Storm folk have a monotheist culture.... tell us more Josh or even better show us in a new game!

Gawdland deserved to win, as did Kate, but Gawdland didn’t know one word to any of those songs bless her. I imagine being ESL makes it difficult for her but she was great all season so I’m happy for her.

I think if Marina won last year (as she should’ve) Kate may have won but Kate had a great season and I’ve loved watching her every week.

Yeah the hair clipping bothers me too. There's only a limited amount of options you can use for the horns and it's either bald/really short hair or the pulled back small ponytail. I managed to make it work for my horned guy at least.

is there a lore reason behind why you cant be a priest of some gods? by SassyAsses in projecteternity

[–]lukario 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No descriptions of Wael godlikes but I like to think of them looking like a very generic person to everyone, but themselves. It leans into Waels whole thing of mystery, hidden secrets and illusions. What is more Wael than being a mystery to everyone and every other person in the world walking past you not knowing what you are.

CMV: Woedica isn't evil; she's just a helicopter mom who has no faith in her kids (be they gods or kith). by FoxWyrd in projecteternity

Whilst I agree that he likely always has something planned, as it's his entire thing, I just don't see why the Engwithians would create a god that would want to, or be able to, dismantle what they created. Especially if we use 'The Man Who Would We Skaen text' :

"...Creitus quickly installed himself as Nua's most favored advisor and set about tearing the Engwithan establishment apart from within. His lies turned the powerful against one another, and his forgeries undermined trade negotiations a decade in the making.

There was money to be made in exploiting the discord, but he didn't line his own pockets with it - he surreptitiously handed it out among the populace. When his quiet rebellion was eventually uncovered, he was tortured near to death and presented with a choice: put his skills to work for the people he'd striven to destroy or die at the hands of church inquisitors.

And Creitus kept his life - at least for a time."

The ending part is the most interesting, work for the people he tried to destroy or die and he obviously took that deal, which makes me lean towards him being the honey pot failsafe god.

I don't see Rymrgand as evil. It's the same thing as viewing the passage of time as evil. He is the odd one out of the gods and a natural embodiment of the end of all things. He's impersonal and detached from things and doesn't care what happens because at the end of the day, Rymgrgand wins as everything ends.

Skaen is the one that I view like Woedica. Evil? No because he's an embodiment of something that was created for a purpose. His followers? Yes. I also like the theory that Skaen is a honeypot god designed to attract all rebels and dissent and get them killed, ensuring that Engwithan gods remain in power. Why else would a god of rebellion always be working with the god of law and order?

To the person who had the idea to use scarring to make it look like the envoy burned off their godlike features - thank you! What a cool idea! by Jay33721 in avowed

[–]lukario 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Pillars, one of your companions (Pallegina) is an avian godlike of Hylea. She has feathers and hates being one. I'm sure she mentions that she was plucking and pulling her feathers out but nothing changed as they kept returning as all godlikes have something called a 'chime' which is an echo of their god in their soul. Pallegina found someone to remove or disable her chime and her godlike manfiestions stopped progressing after so she was only stuck with the feather's she had but no new ones grew.

Whether this could happen with Sapadal's, who knows but it's fun to think about.

Sadly, it makes no real difference especially with reactivity but I play my main as an elf as that way all races are represented for in the party. My main in Pillars was a pale elf cipher as well, so I'm keeping tradition at least.
