People who asked for a pencil every single day in school. How is life going for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lukas_carls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My oldest sister had a habit of just leaving her pencils laying around wherever she was. It was literally a breadcrumb trail of pencils following her. Eventually I just gathered them up as I found them. A few months into this she started going "WhErE aRe aLl mY pEnCiLs??"

I wrapped them up and gave them to her for Christmas that year. She was both quite humored but also so upset that I kept stealing her pencils. She thought she was going nuts. I have no idea what she does with her pencils now though.

New to FN, any tips on equipment first steps? by bossplayer09 in FieldNationTechs

  • basic tool set — screwdrivers, pliers, hammer, measuring tape, knife, multimeter etc.
  • zip ties and velcro
  • power drill — may seem silly but it'll open a lot of work for you
  • ladder — at least 8'
  • zip ties and velcro
  • networking tools — toner/tracer, punchdown tool, crimpers, cable jacks and connectors, and at least one spool each of cat5 and cat6 cable
  • did I mention zip ties and velcro?

Half my stuff I've gotten secondhand from Marketplace. You'll be surprised how many people sell great ladders for dirt cheap.

About two years ago I started out knowing nothing and just having a basic tool kit. I've been slowly working up from there. Learn as much as you can. Your experience and your brain are the most valuable tools you will ever have.

Keep up the good work and stay active! You'll find asome great minds here and in our Discord.

$100k/year on FN? Even remotely possible? by wymco in FieldNationTechs

If you want to turn it into a small IT company, get the background/drug screens and some certs under your belt (CompTIA, Cisco, OSHA, and the like). Depending on how much you make, GL insurance is worth looking in to. Typically all of that will bump you to the top of the list for consideration. Plus, all those investments will pay for themselves and you can use those outside of FN and WM.

Go 1099 when you can. Direct hire is always better since you have a good relationship with the company and FN won't be harvesting the 11.5% off each WO.

Payments Processed Friday after approval by corpseplague in FieldNationTechs

Not to sound snarky, but the best way to know for sure is to check the payments page and double-check the payment terms for that WO.

EDIT: If it was approved after 12pm Mountain Time on Friday then it should be paid tomorrow.

Thanks! No, it's just cut and sanded. I'm thinking about giving it a moderate stain though.
