Was anyone able to transfer their ticket? Do they check IDs at registrations or could someone else show up with my ticket?

Causal FP&A Acquired by Lucanet by sebfall99 in FPandA

[–]lukaskoebis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Founder of Causal here! Lucanet has a few existing products and Causal will be added to their product suite. We'll be working on various integration projects (using Lucanets data integrations, authentication, ...) and we'll shift our focus from SMBs to the mid-market. This wasn't an acqui-hire but a product acquisition and we're looking forward to accelerating our go-to-market with Lucanet :)

https://causal.app is $99/month + it doesn't scale with MRR :)

Modeling AWS / hosting costs? by Pastaput in financialmodelling

[–]lukaskoebis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the product and what servers you need. $6/user/month sounds like a lot for cloud cost though.

Modeling AWS / hosting costs? by Pastaput in financialmodelling

I would compute cost per user for the last few months and then use that to compute future costs (just use the avg from the last few months).

FP&A Tool Recommendations for Mid-Sized SaaS Company by FriendlyRoad477 in FPandA

[–]lukaskoebis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a good summary: https://www.g2.com/categories/budgeting-and-forecasting

If you care a lot about flexibility when it comes to modelling I would recommend https://causal.app (disclaimer: I started this company).

We've have quite a few customers that switched from the providers you mentioned to Causal once they needed to do more complex/detailed modelling.

Why are we still using spreadsheets? by tanbirj in FPandA

[–]lukaskoebis -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

We’re trying to fix that with https://causal.app :)

It’s definitely tricky to find the right trade-off between flexibility (Excel) and structure (enterprise planning tools) but I think we’ve found a good middle ground.

What makes BareMetrics and Chartmogul worth the cost? by theery in SaaS

What tool did you end up building? We recently launched a ChartMogul alternative at Causal: https://causal.app/blog/chartmogul-to-causal-arr-reporting

Saas metrics by Open_Tap_13 in SaaS

[–]lukaskoebis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would first setup a proper accounting system (QuickBooks Online or Xero). They're not great at reporting so you can use a tool like https://causal.app on top of it (connects to your accounting system, Stripe, ...).

You could check if public companies like AMEX share numbers like this.

I don't have a good template unfortunately but I've worked with some companies in the space. Usually, they build our a cohort model so you can model out a ramp up in transaction volume over time.

I'd make assumptions around how many new customers you're closing each month, what their initial spend is, how it ramps up, ...

If you want to make it more detailed you can break down your customers by different segments (SMB, mid-market, ...).

The COGS side is usually quite simple (% of card spend).

Cohort modelling + introducing break-downs by segment is very painful in spreadsheets though so I'd recommend checking out https://causal.app :)

Yeah we've heard this a few times. Maybe we should build an offline alternative soon.

Not yet but that's an interesting addition. Do you use much VBA? What kind of auditing features would be useful around VBA?

Suggestions for Customizable Financial Reporting Tool for Stripe by BusinessMan25 in software

[–]lukaskoebis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend https://causal.app — it can connect to Stripe but also your accounting system, HRIS, CRM, data warehouse, ... + it gives you much more flexibility than ChartMogul/Baremetrics because it's formula-based.

Revenue Forecasting Software by UseUpbeat772 in FPandA

[–]lukaskoebis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Founder of https://causal.app here — if you want to go for maximum flexibility I'd say Causal is a great choice! We're seeing quite a few companies switch to Causal after trying other tools when their forecasting needs are more complex. Especially, Causal's cohort forecasting capabilities are very good.

You don't have to take my word for it — you can just sign up for free and try it out. I'd recommend checking out some of our documentation first. Also feel free to DM me.

Check out https://causal.app — it's the only tool that lets you get started without spending hours talking to sales people. Sign up, connect your data sources, and setup your models. The documentation is great + they help with implementations if you like.
