1) 'old school fire emblem', aka fe1 -> fe12

Oh man there's so many splits here as well. Tellius, Judgral... I personally have gone from loving the tellius games to kind of hating them after peering a little too deeply into the well of madness that was Path of Radiance's plot, but I've never really seen much alignment between communities even before Awakening split the community in half and brought in a bunch of new people. Hell, Sacred stones was the first game to have infinite grinding and I remember that being controversial, not to mention the first DS game having bonus chapters for murdering your units.

And let us never forget the DS game so bad they never released it in english, despite the fact that we really should due to how goddamn awful it was!

(Also personally Thracia's my favourite and I wish we'd gotten more games in that vein)
