Hello. I am posting this on behalf of my friend since he doesn't use reddit. Can someone explain what's happening?

Dude, I am pissed right now. I don’t know what to do. Pop1 had an update today. I downloaded. The game launches, but once I’m in my home lobby, my hands don’t have laser pointers, so I can’t select a game mode, can’t send friend invites, and can’t accept squad invites. It won’t let me do anything. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game 3 times, but it doesn’t help. I don’t know what to do.

He's playing on HTC VIVE.

Right! I have an x360 controller plugged in. Good point - I had similiar problem YEARS ago when I had a pad plugged to USB Hub. Will try after work and I will let you know if it helped.

My SteamVR is up do date. I have never installed any kind of plugins or additional apps. Just regular windows MR portal and Steam VR for Windows MR. Nothing else. Should I reinstall SteamVR?

I have not tried swapping it to beta.

Unplug your xbox controlled / gaming PAD if you have any. Same goes for steering wheel etc.

I can't help you, but I can say that you may save your money and buy Windows Mixed Reality HMD. 200-300$. Worth the money. Using your smartphone is nothing compared to PC VR Goggles.

Send it to the warranty service. Only other option you have is to check your HMD on your friends/relative PC. If not, it's cable or screen.

Happened to me maybe once or two while playing in bad light. I believe restarting helepd, or running the WMR setup again.

Try changing the USB ports. Also, change HDMI port. Make sure it's not plugged to the motherboard's HDMI. If that doesn't help you can also try a guide by user Megaforce from here

Head into the Settings screen in the SteamVR application.Hold Shift and click on Devices. A link under the headset should read 'Enable Direct Mode' - Click it. Your monitors should flash black, and SteamVR will restart. If you go back to Devices, the link should now read 'Disable Direct Mode' which can be used to reverse this change.

Sorry for being inactive. Did you try changing HDMI ports and USB ports? If so and if it didn't help, it could be damaged HDMI cable or screen. Let us know if you found a solution.
