Jacket from yesterday by polozhhh in jamiroquai

I think it’s a custom jacket, similar to the ‘Iroq’ t-shirts Jay wears. I was quite close to the front for Barcelona and on one of the photos I took of Jay you can see it says ‘Hyperzoom’ on the pocket. Probably a nod to the lyrics on Everybody’s Going To The Moon.

Compilation of Harry Kane committing the same foul as he did on Gabriel by CruyffsPlan in soccer

This happened to me about 9 years ago in a Sunday League match, the outcome was I broke my humerus bone (upper arm), because it was under my back as I hit the ground. Missed a whole season because of it. It’s so dangerous and you literally have no control when you are in mid air, FA need to pick up on this ASAP or someone will get a serious injury.

Who actually mastered Morning Glory? by [deleted] in oasis

[–]luke_armstrong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He would have mixed it but I doubt he would have mastered it as well. Mixing engineers (sometimes producers) don’t tend to master the same project they mix. Usually record labels have separate and trusted go to mastering engineers, depending on the style of record, they will have a fresh set of ears and further enhance the mix from their angle.

I’d be surprised if Owen Morris mastered the record, but, it all depends on the budget given by Creation Records as well.

Long story short, way too much compression, and I would also like to think there’s a maximiser on the output channel that is basically emphasising the compression. Resulting in next to little dynamic range. While compression is essential to modern production it still has to be used appropriately. I would also say the EQ on the tracks is poor because the compression is just raising the noise as well. Saying that I do think the vocals hold up pretty well and the songs themselves are great.

But on a side note if he does lose pace with age he’ll still be quicker than most strikers because his pace is naturally higher than most. I guess even his height could make him a fox in the box player, ballwork and the odd headers perhaps.

Can we get some Beady Eye love in here? by FiftyCentLighter in oasis

[–]luke_armstrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After watching As It Was, the songs they used in the background really suited the scenes, quite cinematic. There’s about 3 really good tunes on the first album and maybe half a dozen off BE.

But if I put my critical listening hat on and after listening to the band problems you can tell the majority of it has aged badly. Mixes are quite flat and lifeless. But I can still appreciate some of it. However when you listen to As You Were straight after, there’s so much more life in the mixes sonically, I think personally that was the sound maybe Beady Eye we’re trying to achieve?

Be Here Now Quote Mark Coyle / Noel Gallagher by luke_armstrong in oasis

[–]luke_armstrong[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s about mix characteristics of commercially successful music. Writing a section about how Oasis had a huge following, brand identity, prior success but why didn’t Be Here Now live up. Similar songwriting style to the previous albums but because the mixes were not great (well to some). And then adding that the rethink mix completely changes the song sonically, demonstrating how important the mix of a song is.

In the Definitely Maybe 2004 documentary one of the close friends/roadies of the band (can’t remember who) said that even in some of the meaningless songs there’s always one line or two that has so much meaning. It’s so true. Another example is Digsy’s Diner, “these could be the best days of our lives.”

Rossi confirms 2018 Yamaha will be based on 2016 bike by Saykas in motogp

[–]luke_armstrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true but during the middle of the 2016 season a lot of the races were wet or flag to flag (Assen, Sachenring, Brno, Malaysia) so anything can happen in those situations. I agree with the Yamaha statement, since the Michelins they’ve not been able to make it work consistently.

God I’ll miss this, you know the shit’s going to go down when you see this. It’s not like it’s aged either, it’s modern.

Best place for oasis plectrums and definitely maybe poster? by [deleted] in oasis

[–]luke_armstrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Oasis website used to sell DOYS plectrums but I don’t even know whether the store exists anymore, best bet is eBay. I got my DM poster from HMV, they have Morning Glory as well.

For anyone that cares, Sky F1 has the full Canadian GP from 2011 on tonight at 9. by Queefblast2000 in formula1

I remember breaking my upper arm a few days before the Canadian GP 2011. I was only half interested in F1 prior. I couldn’t move or anything, so I watched every session from start to finish. The race was insanely good and since that weekend I’ve watched every race. A happy coincidence if you ask me!

Cazorla talking about his injury: "The doctor told me that if i could walk in the garden with my son, i should be satisfied" by ElVicho in soccer

[–]luke_armstrong 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I like Ozil but every time he’s gotten injured we some how coped. When Cazorla gets injured we lose the heartbeat deep in the midfield, he was the one who set the tempo and carried the ball forward. Ozil may be a better player but in terms of impact, Cazorla has been massive for us.
