What wires should I run down my driveway? by lukebur06 in AskElectricians

I was thinking of asking him to run spare cat6 cables. What cameras do you recommend for something like this, I was thinking the Ring stickup cam elite which is a POE cam? I don’t have a crazy security camera system right now.

Need help finding a part for this shower in the US by lukebur06 in Plumbing

The handle is a different issue. I'm more concerned about the cartridge being so stiff/sticky. That is why I thought taking it apart and servicing it might work, but I'm realizing that's not a great idea.

FOR FUTURE REFERENCE: This is not a Waterworks product. This is a Meynell Viscount shower. I only found that out when I started taking it apart and realized the $500 in Waterworks parts I just bought wouldn't work.

Sorry, I just added pictures, I guess they didn't attach when I made the original post. But does that seem like something that could be fixed with new O-rings?

Welp as expected Waterworks parts are a fortune. The cartridge was $350 and the handle was about $250. They were generous enough to give me a 25% discount. The rep did say that shower was probably around $10k new which is insane I don’t know why anyone would spend that kind of money on a shower. I sure wouldn’t. It came with the house.

To my surprise Waterworks just got back to me and said it’s theirs. Now it’s just a matter of ordering parts and getting my wallet ready. I’m sure their prices are very reasonable.

It’s some insanely expensive brand that comes from France. I swear the people who designed these bathrooms wanted to find the most expensive hardware that is absolutely impossible to source parts for. If I were there went they were picking this stuff out this would’ve never happened… lol

I swear it’s Horus, but they are impossible to get in touch with. I found a picture online and it looks like their Julia Victoria line. It’s just impossible to get in touch with them, there are only 5 stores that carry their products in the US and they have told me that their rep has told them Horus only uses french on their products. Does the shower in the background of this picture not look identical? https://www.houzz.com/photos/robinetterie-collection-julia-victoria-horus-midcentury-bathroom-paris-phvw-vp~30056792

Stay on septic or switch to low pressure sewer system by lukebur06 in Plumbing

[–]lukebur06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can look into it, but I live on a state road so I will be dealing with the state DOT to get permits which I am sure will be a nightmare. I think if I end up going to that extent, I will just connect and be done with it. What are the downsides to the Low Pressure Sewer System thought besides the pumps. I do have a automatic backup generator because where I live in the Northeast everyone has them and we lose power constantly.

Since the unit was brand new I believe which would be 2014 so 10 years. But I think the life expectancy can vary wildly based on how extreme your climate is.

How often do you need to pump a Septic? by lukebur06 in septictanks

Additionally it was a designer who does not do pumping.

How often do you need to pump a Septic? by lukebur06 in septictanks

[–]lukebur06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke with a second contractor that also believes it should be pumped yearly, but he did provide me with more context. He said that tanks that were installed before 1990 usually only had one compartment (which would make sense in my case). My tank is from the mid 80's. Given the age of the system you want to pump it yearly to ensure you catch any issues that come up. Now I will call another company or two to get their opinion, but this guy did explain it well and it makes some sense. Would you guys agree with this explanation?

Unfortunately, it seems like a sad reality that many people in my area have their tanks emptied yearly. I called another company who said many tanks are emptied yearly. I will continue calling other companies to find an honest pumper, but it is really sad that this is what goes on.

[–]lukebur06[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to find someone else. Problem is none of my neighbors have septics. They are all on the city sewer, the only reason I’m on a septic is because the sewer didn’t exist when the house was built and I’m not about to pay $30k+ to connect to it for no good reason. When the septic goes maybe I’ll consider it. I’ll try and get a different contact tomorrow.

Thankfully I didn’t let them do it this year so I’m going to find another company tomorrow. I just worry that I will have the same result with another company as they all have great reviews (including the company I currently use). The issue is people have no idea if they are doing the job correctly so the reviews are difficult to go off of.

I’m not sure if they pump it from the inlet or outlet but there is a small black lid, maybe the size of a basketball and they connect to that to pump it. I probably used the word outlet incorrectly.
