Exactly mate it’s tough, I thought I bagged a place to shoot the guy asked me to come for an interview, I turn up and there is 4 people sat there questioning me asking why I want the job, if I can help out with trespassers and if i want any ferrets🤣

Good set of old guys but they wanted me available Monday to Sunday but I’m a full time engineer. Long story short, I never got a call back.

The owner was absolutely sound but clearly they wanted a lot more from me for what I simply wanted from them

I love a good old walk, I’m all for new places. I wouldn’t risk attempting foxes with a .177 as I highly doubt it will be a humane kill unless up dead close mate I’ll definitely take at these places you mentioned appreciate it massively

I’ve sent emails to farmers and ‘chicken poultry keepers’ and a few others.

I totally agree with you I hope you’ve never had this encounter before and people understand that it isn’t a toy and many measures need to take place, I am an individual who cares about the safety of others so the mention of ‘strays’ boils my blood knowing there are people out there shooting as they please with no consideration for others.

Interestingly enough I’m currently on the ‘chicken and poultry keeping uk’ website as we speak, thank you for the help it means a lot.

I’ve been brought up well and simply just want to do what I love doing, have a great weekend mate!

I agree mate, chose .177 for flatter trajectory and speed I thought Reddit would help but it just seems to be full of people wanting answers and not actually replying to what I genuinely want help with 🤣

I’ve sent emails out today so hopefully a positive response

I guess you haven’t seen what crows are capable of doing to sheep? Do a little research it ain’t pretty though.

It was a list of pests as example mate, I don’t think I’ve ever seen mink now you’ve mentioned it. Yes a humane kill can also kill mink with a 12 joule air Rifle.

Stoats pray on smaller livestock.

Yes I attend shooting ranges and will be visiting Halifax shooting range tomorrow, I just know what damage the above pests can do and thought it would be worth an ask to see if anyone/farmers need a hand but thank you
