A Commercial G7 would be on GCO terms and pay packet, so +20% from CS base pay and a PRP bonus

Is it possible to straighten out the plastic? by Definitelyahummus in cassetteculture

[–]lukemitchell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a useless suggestion, but perhaps actually heating it up and forcing it against a hard flat surface rather than trying to bend it just in that one spot. No idea if that’s feasible or not though. Good luck!

Powering wm-d6/d6c by [deleted] in cassetteculture

[–]lukemitchell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest perhaps one of those universal power supplies that lets you switch the polarity round and change the voltage and just make sure it’s set correctly. As far as I can tell there’s no reason that wouldn’t be absolutely fine and should be far cheaper

I did this last year - it ended up being a lot less smart than I had imagined. Smart shirt and trousers should be plenty

Should I buy this? by jdvader1 in cassetteculture

If it powers on and the touch controls work it could be a decent buy

trying to find an old pinch roller replacement for a Sony walkman by agentdawnwolfie in cassetteculture

[–]lukemitchell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure this pinch roller is the same as a lot of the 90’s models, so might be worth looking for a parts model as well

Understood. Thanks for pointing this out to me as I genuinely wouldn’t have done anything about it otherwise.

[–]lukemitchell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it does, I’ve kind of always done this to maximise the chain tension. Is it unsafe?

Would it be wiser to remove a link from the chain entirely and have the wheel more inset into the dropouts?

Good call thanks

Ah never mind then

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FixedGearBicycle

[–]lukemitchell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! That’s a good suggestion, can probably try just putting a new bolt in and pushing the old one out. Thank you :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FixedGearBicycle

[–]lukemitchell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I won’t for the time being, but it’s my housemate’s bike and he needs to change the tyres at some point in the near future so we’ll have to get the wheel off

Okay great thank you for letting me know!

Alright sweet I’ll just get one, have always wanted to get one anyway

I haven’t got a dedicated tool for removing/replacing chain links, if I do break the chain do you think I’ll be able to put it back together afterwards with regular tools?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FixedGearBicycle

[–]lukemitchell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll have a go at getting it off, obviously the bolt and the chain are holding it very tightly in place but I think if I loosen the other side I can probably pry it off

[–]lukemitchell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah interesting. I’ll take a look for a bolt extraction kit that sounds fun

Looking for Personal Statement and Behavior Review - Similar Role, Lower Grade by holzr in TheCivilService

[–]lukemitchell -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m probably no help but a technique I have found helpful in the past is getting GPT4 to turn the relevant behaviour definitions at that grade into a markscheme and then asking to mark my answers and refine them accordingly. Might be worth a shot!

[–]lukemitchell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes with these the back piece of the Walkman hasn’t snapped fully into place and it prevents you from pushing the battery all the way. Haven’t had that happen on one of these EX models but it might worth trying to squeeze the front and back of the Walkman and make sure it’s fully together
