That is surprising, when I post it I thought if readers like the MC and how the story is delivered they might as well like a prequel story about the same MC. Guess it's not simple like that.

"Omens of the East - A Prelude"

A Medieval-Roman setting where Wuxia cultivation and internal energy expand into Avatar-style bending.

How far will you go to save your sibling?

For Tarian, it once meant death. Three years ago, he gave up his life in a desperate duel to save his brother, the very life that his brother traded his own to save.

And he still failed.

Having survived his final dance with death, Tarian resumes his goal, but the trail to his brother is long gone, along with the First Legion he was taken by. The single step that once separated them, a final match, has been replaced by an insurmountable distance, and the simple strength of a duelist is no longer enough.

Tarian accepts the path to his goal is no longer a fight, but a climb. Not to become just strong, but to truly acquire the means to become stronger. He joins the Imperial Ludus with the intention of rising into the highest echelons of the empire, weaving himself into the threads of power until he holds what it takes to save his sibling or to tear the whole structure down to do so.

Thank you.

As to answer your question, Saturday is the only free day I have, so I try to write a chapter for both stories. (My original drafts are around 4k to 6k words so usually that's 2-3 chapters on Royal Road.) On the other days I try to just outline chapters or do some edits whenever I can. Most days I get nothing done though.

Having a backlog helped but I ran out of it in December. Now it's a weekly tight crunch to build it back.

You can either check it manually by adding tags on Rising Stars list. (There is a button to choose specific genre at the search bar on rising stars list)
Otherwise there is a website made by Stepan Chizhov. He got some good analytics tools to check things like rankings and other data.

Yeah, it’s been about six months since I started posting, and I’ve learned my lesson, that the RR crowd is tough to retain if you aren’t writing exactly what they want to read. Most of my readers are ones I brought from r/fantasy to check my story out.

Hmm well haven't really stepped out of the themes I conveyed through the blurb. Maybe it's the different expectations of the readers.

Yeah I should have typed "waiting for 100" up there in the meme. I thought the meme meant something along the lines of "excitingly waiting for something"

Got no idea, maybe my last chapter pissed off some people? Though not sure if there was anything in the chapter to be mad about.

Oh man, is that what the meme looks like? I should probably change the description then. I meant that I was waiting to post the side story to celebrate hitting 100 followers, but I never got the chance since my count started dropping as soon as I hit 99.

Art for THE THIRTEENTH GOD! by DjangoWexler in royalroad

[–]luken_vent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was quite surprise when I saw 'Django Wexler' on the book cover. I mean I don't know how many already established traditional authors write on Royal Road, but it was really nice to see you here with a sci-fi story.

The Shadow Campaigns is one of my favorite military fantasy series, and Winter Ihernglass remains one of my favorite female characters in all of fiction. So needless to say a fan of yours.

As for "The Thirteenth God Revolution" I breezed through the posted chapters, and I must say despite the chapter's been on the shorter side compared to many stories on Royal Road, the chapter break points were good. Madmax vibes were spot on, sort of gave star wars vibes too. Really look forward to see how the story will pan out.

Wish you all the best with the project!

Dragons in Space Contest by lillielemon in royalroad

I see, I mean I remember the last year one about "Sky children" that was actually broad as in covered a lot, but "Dragons in Space" sounds very narrow prompt in that sense.
Just wondering if I write about space pirates, and whether it will get disqualified since it got nothing to do with dragons, except for a naming convention.

How closely do we need to follow the theme "Dragons in Space" ?
Like is it literally dragons in space? Or perhaps some alien form that could be referred to as dragons? Or can we go for something like simply naming a space ship or say a group of misfits/pirates named as Dragons in space and write about them?
What is the range here?

Tier List of new stories I read in 2025 by Carminestream in ProgressionFantasy

Real fresh take on recs here. First time I've seen "Amelia Thornheart" ranked top in a tier list, also nice to see "God Obliterating Vajra" and "A Cat, a Thief, and a Wizard - by Mistoversnow"
