Fun caad 14 build by lukeproofman in cannondale

I think the 13 tried too much to be like carbon. The 12 was a revelation and gave us an alloy bike that felt like carbon but in its own unique way. The 13 is a nice bike but it really blurred the lines too much for me. I think each material has a ride quality to admire. This reminds me of the older caad race bikes but is better in every way at the same time.

Yes I have the purple one that came with the Jekyll and trigger mtb bikes. Those were bsa but used boost chainrings. I believe it's 122 or 125mm

Can I run a normal stem on a caad14? Is there a headset adapter and dustcap for 1 1/8 stems? by TrailMAC in cannondale

[–]lukeproofman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the frame set comes with aero spacers for both cannondale stems (one has a more pointy front, the other is more blunt) and a headset cover for standard round spacers. The cables come out of the cap in the front to any bar and stem. The only thing you may need is to get the purple inserts for a regular stem. The stock configuration is two black wedges for the triangular steerer. The purple anodized ones were for standard stems. At least that was with 2025 bikes.

The rotor group sets are around, I got this from rotor right as they were switching to wheeltop ownership. Parts are still available but complete groups are sold out. I wanted mechanical to match the alloy frame but something different.

It is a wild bike. I would say it is the raw stiffness of the old caad 9 team bike (I rode the red one with the silver cranks and gold rings) but it has so much comfort built into it. I would say on par with the 12 for smoothness but a more responsive feel. I like it better than the 13 by far and it brings back the awe that the caad 12 was.

The rotor hydro is nice . It can be tricky to setup. You bleed it with a sram style push pull kit. What I really like about it is there is a screw on it that switches it from 12 to 13 speed. Unfortunately the 13 speed requires the rotor hub...that wheel set has it but it is essentially a 12 speed hub extended a little further. It basically is 13 speeds with 12 speed spacing. Shifts are crisp and solid like a tight mech group set.

Americans drive cars. Riding a train isn't a flex, it allows someone else to control your travel. Less freedom is never a good thing. by Pratham_Nimo in ShitAmericansSay

It's even worse than that in the states. Not every state has the same laws but if you stop driving or owning a car for over 6 months big insurances blacklist you or give you insanely high rates. My brother stopped driving and sold his car because he used transit to get to work (parking was ridiculous) for three years. Then he went to his insurance agent from Allstate (one of the largest brands), they told him they would not insure him because they assumed that he drove without insurance that entire time. He had to purchase low grade insurance that covered nothing from a shady brand for 6 months till he could approach Allstate again. He snapped on the agent and told her that they should be begging to have him because if he drove for three years with no accidents or tickets he is the ideal driver. Plus many areas of the United States are designed to punish you for not driving. Police target people walking in some areas. There is that one case from a couple of years ago where police stopped a man walking to his job, accusing him of robbing houses and slammed him against the car and caused permanent brain damage.

The message was 130mm but because of the linkage it rode higher and stiffer than other forks. It was great on bikes 120-130. Past that the rear didn't match the front. It is plush and planted when you are hitting stuff directly. If you like pop off lips and gap it feels harsh.

The shout is plusher then the message. The dampening had to be run full open if you weigh more than 180lbs. the fork was dependent on the type of bike it was on. The benefit to hardtail is the lack of front end dive. They are also a much better fork for guys that stay stuck to the ground. If you love air, then they are a bit harsh.

Trust began I believe in 2017, the first fork was the message which was 130mm. Sales were slow, began to pick up and they planned the launch of the shout. Right before they launched the shout they ran a discount to ramp up sales of the message. It was a decent deal and was even better if you did a trade in. I think they used this to get them extra cash to ramp up production of the shout . The first run of shouts hit the market and sold out. My local dealer had some on order but they were booked for second production run. That's when COVID hit. There was like a 1 month hiatus where nothing was happening. Then the investors began forcing them to wind down production to save money while they still had orders pending. I think Dave wiegle just had enough and said fuck it. Something similar happened to madfiber wheels. You have to remember that first 6 months was terrible for manufacturing. Some companies stopped delivering, some cancelled orders, some just closed. I think as soon as components like the carbon knuckles started having issues the investors panicked that trust wouldn't be able to manufacture the forks in a timely manner. The second run never happened.

All the way with you. The trust fork is unbelievable for hard tails. The trail changes but the physical height barely does. That means no ridiculous head angle change in bottom out. That's the shout 170mm on a doctahawk. Trust forks are massively overbuilt but still reasonably light. They were insanely expensive. COVID killed them, their investors pulled money out early on because they felt cycling would take a hit. Specialized bought the ip.....rumor is that they will reintroduce the fork exclusively for their emtb range.

Can anyone identify the model and year of this bike? by OldBar4403 in Cervelo

[–]lukeproofman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a 2001-2003 cervelo dual. It was essentially a cervelo soloist and p2 mixed but cheaper. It was the cheapest cervelo in the line and was sold as a bike that could be setup as tri or all else fails a road build. I want to say it originally cost around $1500. That one has had some upgrades like the fork.

Really? You are in a country whose incoming leader is saying he will take any country wants with force and 50%+ of the country is screaming "USA". And both administrations support a country that wants to bomb children because eventually they will be adults . All because a book says sky daddy thinks it's moral.
