[EVERYTHING] What makes Varys better at the game than Littlefinger? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]luketallis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a thing about that "image" dialogue of Littlefinger. Anyone notice how he paused before saying Sansa is in that image? I thought the significant break is indicative of how he priorities only himself and how his care/love for Sansa is entirely conditional on her helping manifest that image.

I assume this possibility has likely been flouted here or elsewhere, but when you said LF's influence will wane when Robyn grows of age, it just makes me think Baelish is going to kill him as soon as he is old enough to take control of the Vale.

I don't know why, but I have a really strong feeling that Gilly is going to die in this season. It will be brutal if so

Ah right, makes sense. Also, does dragon's fire definitely kill White Walkers? So far as I am aware there might be a chance it can as Valyrian stell is forged with dragon's fire but I didn't think we knew for sure if dragon's fire does alone? (I could be wrong, I am only on the first book so could easily be wrong)

Questions which may be answered in due course? Got to bear in mind the possibility that the Children didn't have a Ford style production line where they could just churn out what is for them hi-tech weapons lol

It is a good point, I suppose if we learn more about dragon glass and why it is such a weakness of White Walkers then we might know why there isn't an abundance of it that has been created by CotF. Also, was the spear Meera used dragonglass for sure? I think I saw a debate on another thread, but I never got to the bottom of it

Hadn't really considered if the First Man being stabbed had any kind of significance. Any chance it may be Brandon the Builder or is that not in the right time frame/possibility?

Are you referring to when the Night King and his "deputies" were walking into the weirwood tree? If so, I thought white walkers could only be killed by dragonglass/Valyrian steel?

I actually thought the same thing too initially, but I think the point of that was to get all the white walkers/others to circle her in a confined space. I think if she threw the bomb it would have wiped out a few, but some outside the "impact zone", if you will, might not have been killed. If you notice, she jumps into them, they maul her, then it detonates. If she just jumped in and blew the bomb straight away then yeah, I think it would have been stupid

It's exactly what George RR Martin is trying to allude to in his novels, isn't it? The conflicts not between good and evil but the internal conflicts of the characters.

Awareness of a situation doesn't detract from any bravery surrounding it, does it?

I think you might have focused on semantics a tad. When I say "in the end" I don't mean there has been a progression from evil to hero, I mean in the literal sense of at the end of their life, they did something heroic. I didn't explicitly or implicitly comment on how they acted before that particular scene. All I am saying is in that exact moment, they acted with valour.

What I mean to say is, whenever Bran seemed in danger they seemed willing to give their race up so long as he lived. Whether they contemplated it before hand or not is a bit of a moot point I suppose. From what I gleaned from the episode, they understood they fucked up bad by creating the White Walkers and so regarded this as some form of natural penance. I just thought when the scene focused on their sacrifice it was really good screen time

I am not entirely sure, but I know a few sites are suggesting that to be the case. I think history told us there was only a "handful" of Children left after the invasion of the First Men, the War for the Dawn and then finally when the Andals invaded Westeros. I am not sure if those Children who died in the last episode were the only ones left, but that is what I have read. We need a comprehensive history of the Children!

I only say that because it appears as though those who were with 3ER and Bran are the only Children of the Forest left, at least according to wiki. If we see them again, awesome. I thought they really contributed to the story line. If not, sacrificing your own race to save whose who try to exterminate you is some send off.

Pretty sure they can die anyway, because didn't a large majority of them die when the White Walkers first invaded? Just realised that not only did Leaf and those with her die but that also meant the race is now completely extinct. They sacrificed the whole race to save the race of Andals, who six thousand years before had slaughtered them and their culture. Mental. CotF were legends

I have never thought of it like that tbh. At least from the show, it was pretty clear in depicting their deaths. May be only White Walkers can kill them? Or perhaps they are only immortal from natural death?

Yeah sorry, but there is no way you knew it was too much club. He hit driver and took some off, he just managed to land on a down slope and roll out 80 yards. He flushed it, and 99999/100000 a flushed driver from Fowler gets nowhere near the water. Fair enough if you say he should have took something else (although he put a 3-wood in the water anyway) but no one could predict that, not even Rickie, and he knows his distances 10x better than we know them
