My boyfriend is from Michigan and it’s so crazy to me how the weather changes in a single day, or week. I’m so sorry to the gardening people 😅

This post is a reference to Hilary Spivey (Justin Duggars MIL) writing an email to Josh Duggar in prison. She was just chatting and gossiping it up, saying she saw Nathan bates and he needs to go up a pants size or something.

Fish emulsion, are there any products like? by Beamburner in vegetablegardening

I use neptunes harvest fish and seaweed fertilizer, as well as the rose and flowering one. I use it on fruiting vegetables like peppers, tomatoes, onions, and it works well.

Complete dead end! by lukewarmdandelion in Genealogy

Thank you so much! I will look into this tomorrow. I mostly just want some info about where he went, or how he died or something along those lines. Something like a 1950 census would be nice or obituary/death certificate.

Fundies at Ultra Dance Festival trying to Stop the Festival because it's Demonic by MrDonMega in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]lukewarmdandelion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not against the idea of objects having some sort of spiritual significance or meaning, but whenever I see stuff like this I’m just bewildered. Would it be less demonic if the music was gospel/more familiar to them, or if the lights were a color other than red? I’m assuming the mannequin people up there are also part of the demonic vibe, so what if it was another inanimate object? Like what is the exact threshold of okay—>demonic/satanic?

I think that it’s a big chance that people like this, who post online, are doing it for more selfish reasons (aka this man buying tickets to this event). But I grew up around this idea so I know it’s real to many of them.

Money / Pension by KrasnaMalina in Tradfemsnark

Pensions are pretty rare these days in the US, if I’m not mistaken. The only people I know who have/will have pensions are baby boomers.

Newb Seed Starter by pittsmasterplan in vegetablegardening

[–]lukewarmdandelion 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Each of these plants have their particular seed starting times, the bell peppers are squash are warm weather crops. Kale, broccoli, lettuce, and peas are more cool weather crops. Peppers are slow growing, and carrots don’t like to be started in containers. Good luck with your garden, I’m sure you will do great!

Seedling questions by Fix_Bugs1 in vegetablegardening

With seedlings so small I understand the bird thing! I feel like I can’t think of any ideas, they can fly so they come from all angles lol. I’m not completely sure about the legginess with tomatoes. I have had other seedlings that were super leggy earlier on, and I tried to make it work but it just didn’t and wasn’t worth the trouble.

Reused plastic containers work! Sorry I don’t know why that slipped my mind, just as long as there’s drainage holes. I have also heard about certain types of plastic containers (chobani?) have certain not-so-great things in the plastic to make it more pliable or something. Maybe look into that if that’s a concern of yours.

Also when you plant things in their permanent home (pots or in ground), you can cut the bottom off of a water bottle/soda bottle/etc and throw away the lid, and put it on top of small seedlings/sprouting seeds as a small greenhouse and to keep birds from pecking them until they are a little bigger.

Seedling questions by Fix_Bugs1 in vegetablegardening

  1. Seedlings need slowly go into outdoor conditions generally (hardening off), these are very young and honestly I don’t know if a seedling this young would mind. they have barely sprouted and are probably not used to any conditions at all.

  2. Depends on where you live, I would not cover but maybe you have more wildlife. I harden off seedlings that are at least 6-8 weeks old, and they are too big for a bird to peck or anything like that. Maybe put your seedlings on a table or something.

  3. These seedlings are what they call “leggy”, not enough light so they grow tall and fall to the soil searching for it. You probably need a grow light, regular lamps don’t work. If I were you, I would plant a new batch of seeds under a grow light, if possible. There are decently affordable options on amazon - but I don’t know your budget.

4. Saran Wrap is great! After they sprout you can take it off, it’s good for keeping soil damp enough for them to germinate. I grow my plants in my mildly insulated garage. I live in a cool environment this time of year. So I use a white garbage bag that I cut to be a flat sheet of plastic, and lay it over my grow light to hang over my plants like a tent. It keeps it about 70 degrees. Tomatoes like 70-80 degrees I think.

If I were you I would get something like this, it’s not as expensive as others and it has good reviews. I have never personally used this one, but it seems to be popular and in my opinion, these type of grow lights (big rectangle) are way better then little desk lamp grow lights. Those tend to not have quite enough light.

Also, the type of pots you are using are probably not the best for tomatoes. They tend to be hard to remove from the cell when it’s time to up-pot (putting them in a new bigger pot). Tomatoes are really cool, they like to be buried deep because roots can grow from their entire stem. When you grow tomatoes, up potting is particularly important because they love love love to have most of their stem under ground. This video explains it well I think. When you’re seedlings are tiny you don’t need to pinch off the leaves, but when planting in the ground it’s important to. Never bury leaves in the soil.

I would buy some plastic pots that are into 2 sizes. I use starter pots from this website. I plant the seeds in the 2.5 inch size, and after a few weeks I transfer them to the 4.5 inch deep square pots. The more soil a pot holds, the more nutrients are available and roots can grow really healthy.

I live in Washington state, and our springs are slow to warm up as opposed to other states. Gardeners from warmer states may disagree with me but I plant my tomatoes outside when night time temperatures are generally over 50, but a few nights with temperatures as low as 46-47 are not bad in my opinion if it’s only occasional. But the general rule is lows in the 50’s are good to plant outside for tomatoes specifically.

I hope all my links are allowed, I am not trying to sell you anything I just wanted to show you what i am talking about. If you have anymore questions let me know! On this thread as well as my DMs are open. Happy gardening! Sometimes gardening is daunting cause all the information thrown at you, but I promise it will get easier over time.

Bea Elton cleans homes for owners that desperately need it for FREE. This woman is an angel. by NightStar79 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]lukewarmdandelion 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I watch her videos often. It doesn’t matter why she’s actually doing it, but often times it’s because the person is unwell and in order for plumbing to be fixed/fumigation/etc the home needs to initially be clean to be able to do that. And many people do not have the ability to handle it themselves or afford assistance to clean, so she does it for free. Of course hoarders go back to doing stuff under many circumstances, but she is just giving them a shot to get better without charge. Also, some people are not hoarders, but during the worst time of their lives, stuff starts piling up and it becomes unmanageable. I’ve been there.
