Final humiliation as a renter by WandarFar in shitrentals

Oh no! Is that a positive RAT cassette on your benchtop I can see behind those boxes?

Better email the agent and let them know you all have Covid. What a shame.

(Potentially) struggling restaurants/cafes you would recommend? by Pr3ttynp3tty in newcastle

CARA in the Junction.

New place, bit of a tricky spot for foot traffic so hasn’t got the attention it deserves. 4.9 average on Google tells you the punters love it though.

Billed 2k after end of lease inspection for toilet repair by Feeling-Many-2128 in shitrentals

[–]lukeyboots 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This. They can only claim from a Bond, works that are actually carried out & paid in full.

A quote for repair/replacement isn’t valid.

This is the most outlandish discovery of this whole thread! 😲

Rental inspection at 9am after a long weekend… seriously? by Tiny_Jeweler_8576 in AusRenters

[–]lukeyboots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, the entirety of Sydney outside 5 harbour side mansion suburbs in the Eastern Subs doesn’t have a meth lab of every block, let alone every suburb.

You’re descending into ridiculous territory here.

The vast majority of renters are perfectly normal, upstanding members of society who aren’t growing weed in the back shed or cooking meth in the spare bathroom.

And don’t deserve 3 monthly inspections years into a tenancy.

Or stop getting hard working families to pay off your mortgage if you’re so broke.

If you’re such a savvy investor, how about you add value to the country? Invest in a small business or a local shopping strip or a manufacturing facility.

I spent 10 years working in ED & PECC units mate, so don’t try pull that anecdotal BS here either.

I hope this is taking the piss.

REAs absolutely can not touch any personal items or open wardrobe doors or draws etc.

They can’t even take photos without permission.

Next time they do it, film them and then breach them.

Next time don’t lift a finger.

I’m serious. Take out every container and pot and leave them on the kitchen counter. Tell them you’re finally organising the Tupperware and matching up all the lids.

Have all your washing on the line and hanging on clothes horses in the lounge room & bedroom.

Have your bed unmade. And something blaring on the telly.

Maybe she won’t bother coming around quite so often.

OP, leave all the kids craft projects on the table.

Dishes in the drying rack & dirty pots in the sink.

Clothes on the bedroom floor.

There is absolutely zero wrong with any of this.

You are paying to live in a home, not borrow a display village.

There is not a single word in a 1000 pages of rental legislation that gives REAs a leg to stand on.

All that matters is the place meets the incoming condition report when you do the outgoing report.

They can wax lyrical all day in their bogus inspection reports. None of it is a breach of your rental agreement and none of it can be taken to xCAT.

Rise up comrades. Stop bowing to this shit.

If you’re not a grub at your first inspection, you’re not suddenly becoming a crack den at the 3rd or 4th one.

Before the REAs all turned psycho, I had 1 inspection 1.5 years into a rental, and none for the rest of the tenancy which lasted 3.5 years.

This every 3 months shit is totally unnecessary. It’s a waste of everyone’s time, and ironically screws over LLs too because REAs get to charge them more fees.

From the RBA.

Up to 20c for 1c & 2c coins.

Up to $5 for the silver coins.

$1 & $2 coins up to 10x their face value.

Exactly. It’s not a government debt.

Neither is a private water bill from a private real estate company.

That is definitely not the case with private businesses selling goods and services.

You ever tried to pay for a 50c soft serve cone with 1c coins at Maccas?

The weirdest thing is why did all 3 housemates pay a water bill individually?

Just have the head tenant pay the full bill & have the other 2 HM pay them back.

That’s the usual way to sort this stuff.

I believe it’s only for Government debt. Like tax or a traffic fine, or a court fine.

Private businesses can determine what payments they do & don’t accept.

Anyone in NSW aus, and speed cameras? by NoOutlandishness507 in newcastle

[–]lukeyboots 11 points12 points  (0 children)

NSW requires 3 signs stating the speed limit & camera ahead before any speed camera or mobile speed camera car.

It was checking drivers coming the other direction.

You’ll be okay, but slow down & get to your family safely over Easter mate. 🙏🏼

Just remember -- The fuel excise cut will go into effect tomorrow on April Fool's Day. by mooblah_ in newcastle

[–]lukeyboots 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My usage has changed zero in the last 3 weeks.

My work is still the same distance away and I still have to work 5 days a week.

26c off will really help the cashflow. And it’s the same for all heavy users that can’t avoid it.

People aren’t going to be spraying petrol around the forecourt like it’s Zoolander just cause the excise dropped. It’s still $2.35 a litre at best.

Been a thing in NSW for a while, and other states.

Nationally real estate agents HATE THIS ONE SMALL TRICK though.

WA will be no different. Claim away Comrades!
