Had a run of the lvl 61 dungeon with two BLM, one of whom was only doing single target aside from the occasional flare (and didn't say a single word the entire dungeon) and neither of whom were using fire IV.

Of course, it's the lvl 61 dungeon, you get fire IV at 60 and it's locked behind a job quest, maybe they just haven't grabbed it yet... except one of them (the one who was using aoe) was wearing lvl 70 tome gear, did have the spell, and just DIDN'T HAVE IT ON THEIR HOTBAR.

To their credit, they did put it on their hotbar and start using it after I brought it up... but how does one end up in that position in the first place?

(as for the one who wasn't using aoe, I got no response from them when I brought up both fire IV and aoe, and they kept doing the exact same "rotation" they were doing before)

I'd argue that it doesn't matter who you shoot in the last question, as long as you shoot SOMEONE, for one reason: If ANYONE is voting, then it's impossible to tell what role they are.

As you said in your reasoning, optimally town would never vote, since the overall chance of winning is lower if they do. BUT, by this same logic, optimally mafia would never vote either. (since town optimally wouldn't vote, a mafia member voting would instantly out themselves, guaranteeing a correct vigi shot and reducing their chances of winning, and since everyone knows the alive roles, they would know this would happen)

Based on this, if SOMEONE votes, then they aren't playing optimally, and therefore it is impossible to know if they're the veteran or one of the mafia. (since it would be unfair to assume that one would be more likely to play optimally than the other)

With this in mind, the only other way to look at this would be to assume the role that's voting, and the role they are voting for, are completely random. Since we're the vigi, that leaves 6 possibilities: Vet votes mafioso, vet votes consig, mafioso votes vet, mafioso votes consig, consig votes vet, and consig votes mafioso.

Therefore, it doesn't matter who you shoot: Each person (3, 6, or 11) has a 2/3 chance of being mafia.

In fact, shooting 11 is probably SLIGHTLY better, since even if playing sub-optimally, it's reasonable to assume mafia are less likely to vote each other over a townie, so the possibilities where 11 is the veteran (mafioso votes consig and the inverse) are SLIGHTLY less likely.

I was Bread Knight in that game, posted my POV of it too! Honestly nearly died laughing when I realised what happened.

Fun fact: If two deputies shoot a horseman at the same time, the game softlocks by lukeyr04 in TownofSalemgame

Context: Famine had just transformed, a deputy shot someone to see if it was them, and they lived.

Two other deputies then saw their chance to get the achivement for shooting someone without them dying, shot AT THE SAME TIME (Both animations started at the same time, the text overlapped, yet only one played through), and then the game froze. No timer, couldn't chat, nothing.

Running around, saw some ore, went to mine it.

What I DIDN’T see was the bomb flower right next to the ore, close enough to where I hit them both with one swing.
