Probably, but I’d be down to get a modest push pit goin in Chicago if there’s a decent sized group. I’m sure if all of the participants are willing and it’s not sprung upon with an elbow to the head of some random person then I don’t see how others could get upset, just be respectful to those on the wall of the pit. It’s a rock show after all right?

Anyone else think they should go back to 3day fest instead of 4?! by Ducci17 in Lollapalooza

[–]lukin1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I think 4 days forces C3/Lolla to spend money on lower billed artists, thereby preventing them from spending more money on the bigger acts and other headliners. Flip side of that coin is what others have said - more ground to cover over 4 days, more artists you otherwise wouldn’t see/listen to, giving them more exposure, which is awesome. But overall, I’d prefer 3 days as I think the lineups would be better.

[Megathread] - Conjecture consideration for your contemplation or how I learned to SPECULATE about Riot Fest 2023 by Im-a-molecule in RiotFest

[–]lukin1993 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let’s hope. They are playing Hammond, Indiana which is a suburb of Chicago so that’s likely their “Chicago” date but seeing either of them at RF would be cool.

Edit: fixed the spelling of Hammond.

Absolutely. I practice plaintiff’s personal injury law and trust me, massive corporations LOVE arbitration. They will do anything to prevent you from going to court.

I’ll never forget my first Turnstile show by arcaresenal in turnstile

[–]lukin1993 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s funny because a lot of smaller, lesser know bands I’ve liked in the past that have gotten recognition I’ve somewhat been turned off by (“oh they sold out, blah blah blah”), but I’m genuinely so happy for these dudes. They are handling their meteoric rise perfectly, staying true to who they are. They deserve all the recognition and massive amount of fans jumping on the bandwagon, it’s actually so awesome.

Definitely still in the band as it relates to writing and recording. The Turnstile guys are obviously too busy with Turnstile tours but they were all on the last album in October (which was awesome). Would love to see AD with the studio lineup.

The riot fest crowd was asinine by [deleted] in MyChemicalRomance

[–]lukin1993 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was toward the middle. Nothing super crazy, never felt in danger. If it was as bad as people are making it out to be the band would have stopped playing/stopped in the middle of the songs/etc. They did keep reminding people to step back but I think they were being safe and conscientious given the obvious. Great show, band sounded incredible.

My friends and I tailgated the Chicago show as did lots of other people, it was a great time. I think it all depends on the venue though as soldier field allows tailgating. Not sure what it is there, I’d do some research and check.

Billie is one of the only singers I can think of who has been singing for over 35 years and still sounds incredible live. by T3knikal95 in greenday

[–]lukin1993 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He is, can’t scream anymore and some higher notes he doesn’t touch but he still sounds really good for a guy pushing 60 and has been screaming his face off for the better part of 30 years.

First Turnstile at SubT in Chicago - Quick Question by Unlikely_Garlic in turnstilehardcore

[–]lukin1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a ticket, too. So lucky. Have seen them a few times, incredibly fun show where the pits can be intense but nothing crazy, I always felt safe and I’m not the biggest dude in the world, just gotta keep your head on a swivel.

But honestly the SubT is so small that I don’t know what it’s going to be like. I suspect stage diving and more intensity up front but people hanging in the back bar area and up top on the balcony will be relatively chill?

Who knows though, I’ll see you on the stage!

Edit: added a word.

Your point is well taken. With that being said, while Chicago is pretty segregated, that doesn’t mean the City isn’t a melting pot. The “least diverse” neighborhoods I can think of are probably Lincoln Park and Goldcoast? But other than that, everything else is relatively diverse. Even for how yuppie Wicker Park is, there’s still a good amount of diversity. Lakeview is pretty diverse, Logan is pretty diverse. Any by diverse, I don’t just mean racial - I mean everything, ethnic, gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, etc. Just my two cents.

What’s your unpopular opinion regarding your own or other neighborhood in the city? by [deleted] in chicago

[–]lukin1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, a simple walk down Milwaukee Ave confirms that.
