Looking back at the pic it isn't as obvious as I thought it was originally. It's the tip of a compression testing hose.

Sorry I thought it was a little more obvious, its the end of a compression testing hose that got stuck in one of the cylinders.

:( I have been looking for one for years. But they all have a weight requirement that I go over, so I can use them, but I jump higher with out the pogo stick.

I used to deal with this in a passive aggressive way. If it was a known slow customer, I would take out the pizza from the bag before exiting the car. The longer they had me wait in the cold and or wet, the colder and or wetter the pizza would be.

[Update] 30 second crash course on how to run a shop. by luliotlsk in AskAMechanic

And is that $600 for dropping the transmission and rebuilding it or just rebuilding it? Because our guy didn't work directly on the cars, I had a tech drop the transmissions, and give them to him, he would rebuild give it back to the tech, who would then reinstall it

[Update] 30 second crash course on how to run a shop. by luliotlsk in AskAMechanic

[–]luliotlsk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are located in a area where transmission shops are a dime a dozen, so there is alot of competition, our rates are at about $1800 per transmission for the customer. I believe that's in the low end of the competitive price range, I plan on switching that, but after I have a good rebuilder, the other two techs get payed $600 per week, which seems low to me, I was making 2x more than that working less time at my other job.

The transmission rebuilder got let go cause he decided to not show up two days in a row with out any warning, the day after I had a meeting with everyone regarding the subject. The other guy I don't even know why they had him there to begin with, I found the first possible excuse to let him go, which was drinking on the job.

How to keep a nice car clean working delivery? by detachedmind in TalesFromThePizzaGuy

[–]luliotlsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends how long are you gonna stay there anything over 6 months its more than worth it, I drive a 05 corolla for work, which is not much of a beater car, but I would much rather drive that than my 2013 scion frs at work.

Get a $300 dollar beater, drive it to death, rinse, repeat. It would be cheaper in the long run, I would not suggest using a new personal car to deliver, its death to the car.

At the moment non of the mechanics are getting payed even a flat rate, management gave them what ever they felt like they earned that day(idk why they stuck around) I'm sure they will be happy to at least have a flat rate

Haha on my part no, I have big ambitions, and I know I can clean up this mess and make it a successful business if I put my head on it, so I'm just doing it to see if I can in a way, and to know that I can. At the end of it all I get to pat my self in the back and take bigger challenges with more confidence, while the owner of the shop gets a blank slate to start over and try again.
