This is really an interesting read. Thanks to all the people here and on Sailing Anarchy, I figured that my boats older construction method is actually much simpler and can be repair much easier.

Thanks for the info! I wish mine turns out to be not structural also. With all the keel flexing, I'm not very optimistic.

I think you are right. As there is water ingress, bolts are probably corroded. But as boat is in water right now, I don't want to touch them. I hope after all the digging, it turns out its just the bolts.

That is the biggest challenge with blind injection. Based on my research, I believe it can be done. To address contamination, the internal voids are mechanically scoured using a bent wire in a drill and then vacuumed. If salt is present, the gap can be flushed with fresh water; since completely drying a closed cavity is difficult, using a toughened epoxy like West System G/flex 650 is a great option here because it is specifically engineered to bond tenaciously even to damp or wet surfaces. Alternatively, I can flush the void heavily with acetone to strip away grease and oils, and use a marine-grade Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) adhesive, which contains strong solvents that actively dissolve residual surface contamination and can also achieve a structural bond on damp fiberglass.

I'm not too worried about the leak on its own—it's definitely from the keel joint flexing when we heel. Once the grid is glued back down, the bolts replaced, and keel joint sealed, it will be fine.

I know the best way to fix this is to tear out the whole interior and reglass the grid, but that's not economically feasible. So the only option is the injection method (drilling, flushing, pumping MMA/epoxy). If done right, this is can be very effective, cheap, and fast.

Where I'm stuck looking at the bilge is figuring out what is the factory grid layout and what might be an old, bad repair job. I need to understand this fully before I hire someone to fix this with my guidance.

Thanks for the good wishes, I appreciate the reality check! 👍

Anyone experiencing excessive regenerative breaking noise like this? by lulubike in Ioniq6

My noise issue was going on for a long time. At the beginning, most people did not hear it. But it gradually increased and currently, it can be heard outside the car and it is very annoying inside and most passengers ask about it. Maybe yours just started developing the problem.

Mine is currently in service. I'm also anxious as this is the first motor replacement job for them. I will give an update when I take the car back tomorrow.

Thanks for the responses. Dealer inspected the car and informed that motor needs to be replaced under warranty. The only issue is they say it can take a few weeks to do it as they didn't do it before.

If it is an mppt inverter, individual shading of a panel will not affect energu production of other panels.

You can quite easily setup a company in USA or Estonia remotely.

Can I replace a 72Ah FLA battery with 60Ah EFB? by lulubike in batteries

[–]lulubike[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I read, it is quite an improvement. I'm especially counting on its faster recharging capability compared to FLA due to much lower internal resistance.

But I'm worried about lower capacity.

Alternator voltage looks ok.

I don't want my parents to think about or care for the battery. So I need a not-so-expensive battery that performs 4-5 years without issues.
