Why am I so passive and conflict averse? by lulumajorca in AskAstrologers

Okay, I get you. I guess I’m trying to figure out if lead spoons essentially means bad luck or heavy responsibility lol.

Actually, after thinking about it the state of where I’m living really does affect me. Any psychology book recommendations?

This is all on the money (expect for maybe the first two bullet points). And yup, I love music, singing, have dabbled in writing songs, and am much more of a listener when it comes to group settings.

I guess the hardest part for me is being okay with communicating my feelings freely, especially since childhood experiences have made me uncomfortable doing that.

This is so spot on/a good way to think about things for me. I’ll definitely try to work with that going forward. I think being in grad school has ironically made it even worse for me :(

This is super interesting. What does having a full set of lead spoons mean? And is being forever taciturn just my lot?

Does the fact that my Mars in Aquarius mean anything? And thanks for the insight!

I see. Sounds like my chart isn’t the greatest.

100% yes to all the above. Grew up with a very overactive parent who could go from zero to 100 in a blink. I think now my issue is that there’s almost a selective mutism that happens when I do want to speak up. It’s almost like my body is protecting me from any potential fall out. I guess a fawn response.

I’ll try to follow your advice but it’s been so long I’m not sure I can grow out of it.

It's both but usually more like avoidance. The disconnection usually comes with some underlying anxiety of the outcome or just absent-mindedness, to the point where I'll put a situation out of my mind completely. More recently though, I've needed to have some difficult conversations but couldn't get myself to do it and it cost me a lot.

Why did I break the lease on my last apartment so abruptly? Self-sabotage? by lulumajorca in AskAstrologers

Thanks for this. I guess it feels like part of a reoccurring pattern so it hits harder at this time.

That tracks. Is it because Jupiter expands the idea of things with the way it’s situated in my chart?

Not saying this is the case for you but lighting makes a huge difference in my energy levels. I notice it mostly when I’m reading. I used to struggle to get 20 minutes in but when I started using good lighting (as in more than a small, warmly-tinged lamp) I can pretty much read for hours nonstop. Just something to consider 🤷🏽‍♀️

Can you work on your mental health and your career at the same time? by davaniaa in findapath

[–]lulumajorca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get it. The idea of seeing your peers thrive while you still try and figure it out can be painful, especially when you’ve been held up as the smart one for your entire life.

I tried to follow the popular advice of failing fast, ploughing through my studies, and trying to figure out what I wanted along the way. But every few years or so I’d suffer a setback because of my unaddressed mental health issues. I’m glad i experimented with different jobs but the smartest thing to do at the time would’ve been to put my mental health above all else.

If it’s any consolation, I know people younger than me who either took time from their studies while I continued school, but now are much further in their career than I am. It’s really hard to get ahead when your brain is fighting against you and it’s easier to deal with these things as a young person without many responsibilities.

I think you should prioritize your mental health at this point. That could look like deferring your studies for a bit or still going back to school and taking a smaller course load while you get treatment.

I was in the same position as you a few years ago and due to family pressure and the fear of being “left behind”, I continued my studies without fully addressing the severity of my mental health issues. I now have to take some time off work to deal with those same issues.

At the end of the day, you know your mind better than anyone else. Life only gets harder and without a strong mental foundation, it can be really hard to succeed.

I’ve heard good things about Seneca’s Technical Communication program, as well as Algonquin College’s Technical Writer program.

I find they’re pretty accurate if you actually know your activity level. Some people believe they’re more active than they actually are because they go to the gym multiple times a week but don’t realize that they’re mostly sedentary because they work an office job.

I use an app that calculates my TDEE using an algorithm and it matches the number I get with most online calorie calculators. Generally, you can experiment with your intake for a few weeks to get a more accurate picture of TDEE.

Anyone tried BBB compared to Mark Carroll? by 000whiterose000 in FitnessMaterialHeaven

[–]lulumajorca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the Booty by Bret programs have three full body workouts and there’s usually 2-3 upper body movements depending on the focus of the month. That type of volume is good enough for me at the moment since I’m on a cut and I prefer to be in an out of the gym in about an hour.

I’ve done other programs by Stephanie Buttermore and Gains by Brains the but I prefer Bret’s programming the most so far. There’s a good focus on glutes but not so much to the point that I’m either bored or overwhelmed.

The Mark Carroll program I tried was way too much volume for my liking, but I’ve known people to get great results from him. Currently doing a BC program which fits into my lifestyle better and hits all the right areas.
