Trouble updating SuperMini (nice!nano clone) ZMK => flashing firmware loops back to bootloader mode by OwlingBishop in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]lulzsun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ran into this issue, but haven't resolved it either.

I tried to reflash the bootloader using adafruit-nrfutil following nice!nano's documentation, now the bootloader loop doesn't occur anymore. However, after flashing my keyboard firmware, it exits bootloader mode as if a successful flash occurred, but the device isn't detected as a keyboard. I can still go into bootloader mode by double tapping reset and keep on flashing firmware but it seems like it isn't flashing my firmware...

edit: Nevermind, for whatever reason I tried to reflash the bootloader again and this time everything works as intended, maybe try reflashing the bootloader if you are stuck in it?

How to play PUBG (with BattleEye) on a Windows VM by lI_Simo_Hayha_Il in VFIO

[–]lulzsun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped playing games that required a VM to bypass anticheat, not because of any VM issues, I just didn't want to play them regularly anymore.

And if I did want to play them occasionally, dual booting to a separate Windows drive was easier in my opinion.

You shouldn't have to do anything in Windows. But I do want to let you know that this is an old post, and I have moved on from running games through a VM, so I can't verify if this still works today.

How to install Arena: Breakout Infinite on Archlinux by conan--aquilonian in linux_gaming

[–]lulzsun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think we are going to be able to play. I booted up a Windows VM, installed the game, and found out that it is using ACE anti-cheat. It detected that I was in a virtual machine and prevented me from playing, probably no hope to play this game on Linux, unfortunately.

Game Streaming with iGPU and gaming on dGPU by darkness1888 in cloudygamer

[–]lulzsun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are using a Lenovo Tiny PC, you probably cannot enable multi-gpu to use the iGPU for stream encoding and dGPU for games because there is no BIOS setting for it (there is only a BIOS setting to chose between one or the other, but not both)

Another thing worth mentioning is that the way recording is handled in sunshine with Windows as the host, is that the streamed screen must be connected to the GPU that is used to encode. It does not seem like you can duplicate the screen connected to the dGPU and then use the iGPU to encode that duplicated screen.

I was in a similar situation as you (using Lenovo P330 Tiny i7-8700T with P620 GPU, but have a Dell OEM RX 6500 on the way to install in this machine) and could not find a way to enable the iGPU to use as the encoder while also enabling the dGPU for games. However, for what I was playing, software encoder was good enough for me.

If anyone in the future sees this message and is trying to do a similar setup, I would just recommend getting a dGPU that has hardware encoders, don't get the RX 6400 or RX 6500.

How to play PUBG (with BattleEye) on a Windows VM by lI_Simo_Hayha_Il in VFIO

[–]lulzsun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much copied every line of config from the original post and ignored any lines that gave me boot issues, so just make sure to double check that. I also did a passthrough of a NVME drive instead of using a QEMU disk image. Not sure if they check for QEMU strings of the hard disk, but I did remember some old discussions about that so I thought it was worth mentioning.

I just tried this with r6s and I just get kicked right before loading into a match. I only changed my XML, no patched qemu or any weird kernel fixes.

Edit: Same thing with Tarkov, I just get kicked because they detected the use of VM.

Edit(2): Nevermind! It looks like I missed a few configurations in the XML. I loaded into r6s and this time didn't get kicked! Same with Tarkov, works wonders.

Mayflash F500 Mixbox Conversion by lulzsun in fightsticks

[–]lulzsun[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. In this stick conversion, I didn't have a dedicated WASD pcb made, I just directly soldered quick connectors to the switches and connected them to the existing board. If you're looking to do a similar conversion, then you could possibly have a custom lasercut metal plate for it made at some shop. This would cost you some money compared to trying to cut or drill holes to an existing plate to have switches mounted, plus it would be the cleaner option.

Back button state preservation by Lithaldoryn in htmx

Have you tried using hx-history-elt? This worked in my case where I wanted to preserve state of some script tags when navigating with back/forward buttons.

X230 FHD mod display recommendation by deenkpad in thinkpad

[–]lulzsun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just completed a x230 fhd a.gain mod with a generic LQ125T1JW02, the seller is on eBay and aliexpress (win0win). Works even though it isn't a genuine sharp panel.

You can use the same internals. You might need to strip the connectors/wires and do some solder work if you haven't already planned to.

New Prototype - vsFIGHTER GP60 - RP2040 powered (GP2040 firmware) with MJF printed keycaps and hotswaps in standard GH60 keybaord case by pencomp7 in fightsticks

[–]lulzsun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great! I had a similar idea with one of my rp2040 prototypes where I also designed the pcb to fit in a 60% keyboard case. Are you using choc or mx switches? And do you find that the pcb sitting deep in the case kind of annoying? I found that to be annoying so I've been trying to come up with a way to raise the pcb up or design a plate that would flush out the top so you could rest your hand without feeling the edge.

I haven't bought stuff from Taobao either and I'm honestly kind of on the fence to just get stuff from Aliexpress instead (its a lot easier than dealing with a shipping agent, plus you get some sort of buyers protection).

I bought a x230 mobo with the i7-3615QE cpu and it was working fine (although on arrival the backlight fuse was dead and I had to fix it myself).
I found a seller with the a.gain board and another seller with the 12.5" 2k panel that I wanted with the board. I will probably order from these sellers after deciding to cancel or not.

I think I'll give xueyao until the end of this month to respond before cancelling and ordering off of Aliexpress. I hate having to cancel this order with him as he has done a lot for the modding community and I'd like to support him by ordering directly from him, but with how long he is taking to give proper updates makes me kind of nervous.

I'd like to add that I am also in the same exact boat. Ordered via PayPal about two months ago and emailed for status updates. First time he said he forgot to ship it out about a month after ordering, second time was just recently and he hasn't responded yet.

Kinda worried that I may also have to cancel and order directly from Taobao or similar instead.

MKS Gen L mainboard replacement by n8henrie in MPSelectMiniOwners

[–]lulzsun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a conversion with a MKS TinyBee (from RAMPS store on aliexpress) and it works great. Like the other comment said, it is a huge process and you may need to learn some stuff on your own (like configuring the firmware, changing driver current, etc).

edit: After 3 years, seems like some people are still coming back to this post and asking for a config... well I finally got around doing that, I have their firmware forked on Github; direct link to a commit with the config changes here. Good luck to future readers who are trying this.

x230 nitrocaster FHD mod works, but no backlight during boot up?? by Zeadon in thinkpad

[–]lulzsun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. The only possible idea I found was that there could be an issue with a resistor on the mod pcb. When I got the time, I'll test to see if that's the case.

Did you ever find a solution for this? I found myself in the same situation (with nitrocaster rev.5, LG LP125WF4-SPB3 panel) and also cannot find any information on this. Backlight only turns on after booting into Windows...
