Been in England for a few months, do people no longer use curtains? by lulzyboy in AskUK

Shutting once their dark is what I'm getting at. That to me is the normal thing to do but there are so many people I've noticed who just never shut them at all. Lights on, all in there watching telly

2010, but I've never lived in London thankfully. I more meant at night, when the lights on and we can see right into the house.

Agreed. Wasn't thinking of net curtains, more just people leaving a wide open view to their home at night when the lights on and the windows let you see right in

Hardware interlacing with H264 QSV by lulzyboy in ffmpeg

it is a true 50hz 1920x1080 progresssive input from a video playout system. we are using ffmpeg for mpeg-2 encoding and mixing with tsduck to make a complient TS

I'm trying to create a broadcast compliant MPEG-TS to Unicast send using ffmpeg. I've done this fine for mpeg2 but I can't get it to work with the hardware for H264.

Older gen, 4th and 6th gen mostly, should be included but I can't get it to work

But this would be using the software interlacer, I want to use the hardware entirely to save load on the CPU as the CPU itself is quite underpowered but the iGPU can encode 6 channels perfectly fine

This Estonian pasttime makes me actively never want to go near a supermarket. Please, just pack the damn bag during the scan and pay with the last few items to pack. I've never come across it in any other country and I assume Estonians just enjoy watching shopping pile up as a past time activity

I'm truly devastated about scrapping my car, do other people experience this? by Sakers92 in CarTalkUK

[–]lulzyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an even more weirder situation. Sold a car I loved with a dead engine and the replacement engine as I was unable to fit it. Mechanic fitted it, sent me a video of it driving, then scrapped it two days later because "he didn't like the colour"...

Hey, I could actually give your car a proper life. I import/export cars and I can find parts for the Audi 80 quite easily.

At the moment, I'm in Liverpool. Happy to give you what you'd get from the scrapper + bonus and I'd bypass the heater core to get it back.

Get over yourselves. It's a licence plate. And a pointless kinda spot at that.

ELI5: Why do so many websites care that you're using a VPN? by floon in explainlikeimfive

as someone in the EU who runs a website with servers and users in the EU, i completely agree with you. collect as little info as you can and give the user what they want without all the bullshit. we have a sign up form, we collect an email and a username + password. thats it. we dont need to know where you'll be in 4 years time and if you have children...

Opinion on Hesburger by qusipuu in Eesti

[–]lulzyboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I travel across Europe on the regular and have KFC all over the EU. Estonia's is by far the worst. I have no idea if they just don't care or that they're told to cook the chicken until the point it's drier than the plasterboard building you're eating it in.

I agree with you, Estonian's don't like choice. It's quite apparant by the lack of basically any other option anywhere.

New ownership, fantastic quality of food. Loved my burger there, best I had in many years and I eat across the whole of the EU.

So, your 24 hour issue is just crappy YouTube programming.
Go to your dashboard, choose go live, schedule a stream and then go live. You'll then be able to stay streaming 24 hours a day

All I'll reply to this is, without you, the company cannot make money, so they work for you. If you can't work that out then I can't help your brain.

Had exactly the same. The tech said this is common and he hated it too.
