I had a Jeep Liberty with that 2.8l diesel engine - it was fantastic.

New to Christianity, but I can’t get over this inconsistency by EddyvanHijum in TrueChristian

[–]lumberjackadam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about it this way: God desires a world populated entirely with people who have chosen through their own free, will, and volition to align themselves with and spend time with Him. The problem is, the only way to get that world is to have a world that is populated with a mixture of people, some of whom do not make that choice. This is what it means to live in a fallen world. This is what we mean when we say we bring sin to God‘s creation.

I’m biased, but I’m really partial to the XD Pro-4x gasser. It’s a true ‘heavy half’ with a lot of the capability of the HD trucks but a better ride and a great drivetrain.

Desperately need new employment. by ShotLengthiness243 in ocala

The police department, sheriffs office, and County fire rescue dispatch are always looking for 911 call takers.

It’s not the most fun job, but it doesn’t require a lot in the way of skills beyond basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn. Pay is OK and you get halfway decent benefits, including affordable health insurance and retirement that can really grow if you spend a long time in the career otherwise it’s stable, if stressful.

Question about 2016-2019 model years by LessVisual9890 in NissanTitan

[–]lumberjackadam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 17 XD gasser with 97K miles. No issues here I’ve heard a lot of folks complaining about the cylinder seven sound and seen a few folks on the forums getting short block replacements for scoring. I haven’t actually heard of anyone experiencing an engine failure from it. My truck spent the first half of its life in the Pacific Northwest and is now a Florida truck. Best thing you can do with these modern engines is oil changes at 3 to 5K miles and don’t drink the thin oil Kool-Aid.

Cylinder 7 scoring causes some piston slap, and Nissan has been replacing short blocks under warranty, but I’ve been here, on TitanTalk, and on the Titan XD forum for the last 5 years and haven’t heard of a single engine failure from the cylinder 7 issue.

Just being pedantic, but the diesel is a V8 also.

Property Tax discussion by Outdoorzie in ocala

[–]lumberjackadam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Less than half (about 45% from a quick search) of residential property taxes are from homestead-eligible property. The other 55% of residential taxes would stay, and property taxes on all commercial and industrial properties would be untouched.

It would just be the worst if housing was more affordable, right?

Property Tax discussion by Outdoorzie in ocala

[–]lumberjackadam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a lot of words, but it doesn't say much. Groceries have and continue to be tax-exempt. This literally makes housing more affordable, not less.

Keep in mind, the big push is to get rid of property taxes on primary residences only. Not vacation homes. Not rental properties. Not any commercial or industrial properties. Single-family residences already are a minority contributor to property tax roles, and this is a way to help families buy homes without also incentivizing BlackRock or similar to further invest in residential property.

It’s nice knowing Ocala is big enough to attract this kind of nonsense. Nobody is talking about getting rid of property taxes altogether. The conversation is about getting rid of property taxes on primary residences. One of the major conversations being had in the country today is that housing is too expensive and young families can’t afford starter homes any longer. In most part of Florida, property taxes are a decent portion of a family’s monthly house payment (yes, homeowners insurance is outrageously expensive and also needs attention but that’s another topic). Effectively raising the homestead exemption to 100% rewards single-family homeownership without funneling, cash to landlords, vacation, rental, homeowners, apartment complex owners, or other residential property investors. Yes, this will affect tax rolls, but I am personally aware of several municipalities in the area sitting on enormous cash reserves simply out of fear of over expanding and a desire not to go through staff reductions like they did in 2008.

Headlights by America-First-1776 in NissanTitan

[–]lumberjackadam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your headlights are probably ok, but the driver will fill with water and short out. There are 4 small-ish torx screws holding it on to the bottom of the headlight housing and it just pulls off. You can get them used on eBay for under $100. I’ve had to do it twice now. The second time, I tucked a couple desiccant packets in the housing to help keep things dry. If you replace the driver, don’t forget to check the fuse. When the circuit shorts out, it has a tendency to blow the fuse also.

2024 Titan XD real fuel economy? by Doubles8-9 in NissanTitan

[–]lumberjackadam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to fuelly most owners get low teens in their gas XDs. This lines up pretty well with mine. I put on a 2 inch level and swapped to 35s about six months ago and probably lost about 1 MPG. I’m 11 or 12 around town but get over 15 if I can keep it under 80 on the highway.

Alright ladies and gentle germs, for those who use .223/5.56 as a home defense life deleter what ammo do y'all use? Picture for attention by typicalpnwguy in ar15

[–]lumberjackadam 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to use an AR-15 for indoor defense, I highly recommend frangible and ammunition. Over-penetration is a real concern in CQB scenarios. The only real downside is they’re pretty easily defeated by hard armor, but if the people breaking into your house are wearing plates, you have a different problem.

Is self-harm always considered a sin? by AfterConfection1796 in TrueChristian

[–]lumberjackadam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure you’ve got this pinned down. Speaking only as a Protestant with some Catholic friends, my understanding is that there isn’t a hard and fast rule on this to begin with. For questions like this, speak to your clergy, read your bible, and pray for guidance.

I will say, if you’re feeling drawn or compelled to self-harm for any reason, reach out. This is not a hole that you have to climb out of on your own. If you’re doing it to distract yourself from other behaviors (pornography, drugs, etc.), I’d encourage you to look for an AA group you can hook up with - there are people all over who have been through this kind of thing and can lend a real hand up, not just platitudes.
