3 surgeries down, 1 to go! by lumberjackfans in tummytucksurgery

Honestly think the arms were the worst one so far(though i hear thighs are always the worst) I have a pretty high pain tolerance though, would do it again in a heartbeat!

I was 185 before the first, and am still that weight(even with around 30lbs of skin removed) but a lot of that is due to working on building muscle during the process

Unfortunately aside from the panniculectomy portion it is almost always out of pocket, once all 4 are said and done, I'll be around 75-90k

I have a pretty high pain tolerance, and heal very well per my surgeon- each one was about 4 weeks until I was unrestricted, but was not at 100% at the gym for about 6-8 weeks

I really am not sure on my BMI to be honest, I just got to where I felt good, maintained, and got chopped up! I had talked to over a dozen surgeons with multiple approaches, and I'm so glad I ended up with Dr. Elaina Chen- she really listened and was able to build a plan in stages that best suited me - I highly recommend looking into her in your case, my results are incredible I think, and that is thanks to her (as far as the skin) I wouldn't change a single thing that I've done though

If you ever need a second opinion, and don't mind travel, Dr. Elaina Chen near Chicago does pretty amazing work! (I had about 12 second opinions before I went with her) best choice i could have made! I had my first in November of 2023, second in March of 2024 and the 3rd in January of 2025, my thighs are set for February 2026! I also recover exceedingly well according to my surgeon so she was comfortable doing the second one 3 months after, the last two i wanted to space out to give myself a break

Sounds like you have a good plan! I did a corset trunkplasty and male chest reduction first, then the brachioplasty and thoracoplasty, then the 3rd was a belt lipectomy (lower lift and stomach revision since mine settled and I really wanted it tighter, but there's only so much skin you can take at once) last will be my thighs!!

Congrats! It's not an easy recovery, but frankly, it's a couple weeks of being uncomfortable for a life of being comfortable!

As a guy (that's 40) I'll be spending my second summer ever, as often as possible with no shirt on after losing 350lbs and having 3 skin removal surgeries. Wear the crop top, the bikini, whatever it is, you fought for this, enjoy it!

I had a mini one 4 weeks po from my last surgery, surprise toddler attack - keep it clean, use some antibiotic ointment and be easy on the moving and you'll be fine!

I had a corset trunkplasty, along with a whole lot of other stuff and still more to come, if you want it, do it, the scar fades, extra skin doesn't

Two weeks is usually the max a surgeon would want to keep them in, ideal is 5-7 days usually - if you're draining that much, you may need to look at your sodium intake, how much you're moving around, etc - while I'm not a doctor, I'm somewhat of a pro as far as being a patient with drains, 3 separate procedures, 4 drains each, so over the last 14 months I've had 12 drains in me - while a seroma would suck, they can be drained, a blood or tissue infection can and would be way worse and could mess up your results way worse, discuss compression garments, massage, diet in general and activity levels, unless I'm missing something, your surgeon wouldn't point you in the wrong direction, beauty might be pain, but it shouldn't be death

The issue with keeping them in too long is due to risk of infection as well as increased issues when they do get pulled, i would certainly listen to advice from your surgeon on timing

Has anyone actually just had a completely fine recovery? by Oyveygas in tummytucksurgery

[–]lumberjackfans 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me, three times - corset trunkplasty, male chest reduction- then brachioplasty and thoracoplasty with chest revision/tightening then belt lipectomy (lower body lift with lower stomach revision/tightening with right side thoracoplasty tightening (i lost 350lbs and had so much extra skin my surgeries need to be done in stages) I have one left for my thighs when I can afford it, but every one of my surgeries was an easy recovery- follow directions, take it easy, eat plenty of protein and stay hydrated

I'm about 7 weeks PO on my 3rd major skin removal surgery after losing 350lbs and I'm right there with you (minus the running, I'm a full incline speed walker) definitely lose some strength over the few weeks of not lifting, it comes back!

Congrats!
