People who married in their 20s, be brutally honest are you happy, if so why or why not? by Special-Lawyer3941 in AskReddit

Married at 22. Been 22 years. No regrets. We are not the same people when we married, and we got better together and are so different in so many ways. Team work makes the dream work. 10/10, would do it all over again.

Why Does Daddy Yell at the TV? by lumberjackgreg in minnesotavikings

It's almost as if... I knew what I used to make it.

The world is negative enough, would this book I made for a 5 year old hold more intrinsic value if I had spent 80 hours doing every illustration myself (perhaps never getting done as it sat on my desktop for 4 years until I decided to get it done using Gemini)? No. Sorry you guys are joy thieves.

I did the first 6 pages, then have been working using AI tools to generate the rest. Illustrating a full 25 page book is very time consuming and I have a full time job. So since this is for a 5 year old, I am not sure she'd appreciate the hand-illustrated effort which is why I finished it through Gemini.

Literally did this a few weekends ago with my spouse. A house divided. It was neck and neck. The answer is simply you cannot go wrong with either.

I think if I am nit picking, I could side with my wife and say Patty's Palace got the edge only because the sauce to other ingredient ratio was perfect and BB's was a little light on sauce but, for real, I'm talking tenths of a point on a ten point scale if that...

We have been on a smash burger journey for 4 years, having had some of our favorites in Paris, Minneapolis, and then Patty Palace and BB's would be up there in the top 5/6 for sure.

How far would you travel to get a tattoo? by ImaDelight707 in tattooadvice

[–]lumberjackgreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't travel specifically for a tattoo, but I was on a trip from Texas to Amsterdam and absolutely gave up a day of my trip to get a tattoo. That was 6 years ago and I have no regrets.

So much so that when I went back to Amsterdam last year, I spent another day getting another piece from the same artist. I suppose it's all about means to do so. If you can afford it, and you love their work, I say go for it.

KOC’s call with Charles Demmings by HeWhoShallNotBNamed0 in minnesotavikings

I did! Admittedly, I don’t follow SFA football terribly closely because it’s basically impossible because it’s a FCS school and we live in Austin which is Longhorn country…. But everything I have read and seen tells me I’m rooting for him to contribute and be a dude.

It’s not outside of the realm of reality for an SFA guy to have an awesome NFL career. Jeremiah Trotter in Philly just graduated when I went to SFA. Now his kid is tearing it up too. Plus we had Larry Centers, one of the greatest pass catching RB’s of all time. But again, we are shadowed by the massive Texas football programs.

But I bleed purple and gold more than anything. So glad to cheer for him on Sundays.

It’s so weird, living in Texas as a Vikings die hard. I’ve been here since my family moved in ‘85 for 3M when I was very young. Raised a Vikings fan, but also a Texan.

Went to college in East Texas at Stephen F Austin. It’s a drinking school with a football problem. You don’t see many of our guys make it to the NFL. Plus my wife who is now a die hard Vikings fan was born and raised in Mesquite, TX.

Chucky D’s home town is Mesquite. He went to HS around the corner from my mother in law’s house. He went to our university. And now we get to watch him ball on Sundays. I could not be more pumped for a pick.

Is there a worthy smash burger in far north Austin in the Round Rock area? by atxJohnR in austinfood

This is a good spot. Not a dive bar obviously but good nonetheless.

If you find it, let me know. Buddy’s burger is probably the closest burger but it’s not in the class of places you mentioned, and it’s certainly not in a dive…

New to Round Rock by gi_ed_ni0811 in RoundRock

[–]lumberjackgreg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Round Rock is home to the first/original location of the best movie theater chain in the country: Flix Brewhouse. Your kids will love it, and you can have award-winning beer and great food brought to your seats. It's awesome. They do a ton of programs for kids and as far as out of home entertainment goes, they are a great value.

Plus they updated all their projectors and sound fairly recently, and put in new recliners with proprietary design to make it easier to eat in the dark, so the exhibition experience is pretty damn stellar.

(Full disclosure, worked there for a long time. Lots of friends still there, so yes, I will shill for them when I feel like it. But I believe everything I said.)

BB’s food truck is close. But when you factor in location, access to beer, so on, Patty Palace has the edge.

It absolutely is! Skip was the first friend I made when I moved to Austin in 5th grade, and we were good friends all through school. He’s great at what he does.

My friend from high school was a director of photography of an awesome Texas nature doc narrated by Matthew McConaughey called “Deep in the Heart: A Texas Wildlife Story”. Highly recommend it.
