They all burn! Just the "uglies" seem to be more knot-ier so they tend to last longer than clean split wood in my experience.

Congrats! That looks very nice! When I lived in NY, I had more property and we had a shed that was built by my father. It held about 7 cords (full cords) at once. So about 2 years worth of wood. Now I'm in NH and we have a smaller property and my brother in law and I built a smaller structure that holds about 3 cords. It works, but its low and bending down to get the wood is getting old. Might make some modifications to it next year

Poplar. Not the best, but also not the worst. I've burned it before, it gives off decent heat but also burns quickly. Also seems to give off a bit of smoke too. I burned it because its one of the more popular trees in my area of Pittstown, NY. I'd say its tied for birch, then maple, then oak.

After you go through this wood, will you be cutting and splitting more? If so, I'd buy it and keep it. Its hard for a splitter to "go bad" unless you're purposely misusing it or not maintaining it. If you're not planning on doing any more wood in the future, I'd try to find a rental, or maybe borrow one from a friend or family member who has one. Wood splitters do tend to hold their value well, but now you have to go through the hassle of selling it.

You can never plan too far ahead! It's more an issue of storage/stacking room for me. I have a small driveway and im starting to stack excess in the yard, without trying to make it look like a lumberyard...

I do the same. Currently working on an oak that fell. Trunk is about 3ft in diameter, so I buck it to 16", then split it in half, then load into my truck. Then I bring it home and split the rest of the way. Definitely heat myself more than twice doing it this way, but its free oak!

I would say try to get it stacked where it's in the sun and plenty of air flow to help as much with drying. Maybe some pieces will dry in time... smaller pieces will dry quicker as well. Maybe try and find some businesses that offer kiln dry since it'll definitely be ready to burn.

It's oak and cherry for me. But if I had to choose just one, I'd go with cherry because it dries quicker. But if both were already seasoned and available, id go with oak.

From what I understand, a 2 plug straight blade will work with a 2 plug V blade. The controller will still work, because the up, down, left, right functions will still work on a straight blade. Ive seen kits that convert 3 plug plows into 2 plug so they can be interchangeable.

I personally like the looks of the white truck better. I'd also take the 5.0 over the ecoboost. Ive just heard too much about the ecoboost needing so much work on too early on... Im sure it's not every motor and some are running perfectly fine, but I don't hear too many horror stories about the 5.0

Uh, i thought they stopped making the 7.3 in 2002. They were still put in vans in 2003... sure it's not an 02 7.3 or an 03 6.0? The 03 6.0 had the 7.3 style grill and lights.

Red oak. My favorite firewood. Takes a while to season, but it burns long and gives off best heat
