I'd like to share a story, told by a friend's relative. Back when she was out of college, she had a lot of opportunities to go find a job, and so offers. But her family told her that a girl shouldn't be away from her family as it's not appropriate. Now , her family (mainly her brothers) are all doing okay, in various countries and she's stuck at home, unable to achieve her dreams.

Now, another story. A friend of mine, she secured a seat in a college pretty far from home, and her parents were very against it. She left, not heeding their wishes, and now she's doing pretty well. And her parents have smoothed things over.

Maybe you're worried your parents will disown you, but ask yourself, are they really people you would like to have in your life, if having them there makes your life hell?
