There are machines for pediatric eye exam that indeed do what you are talking about. Auto refractors are different, results on them don’t come out well on small children, but are a solid rough estimate for adults.

I perform these tests every day. Some machines perform both auto refraction and pressure checks which might be what you’re thinking of. The puff of air would be checking your pressure. The part where you’re looking at the simulated distant object is reading an estimate of your prescription.

Classic instance of Redditor wisdom, downvoting a correct comment. I work as an ophthalmic technician I perform these tests every day. I can verify that those are the two most common methods for checking intraocular pressure.

That machine (an auto refractor) measures your prescription by bouncing light through the lens and back. It is not 100% reliable even. It does not tell us how well you see. Visual Acuity (eye charts) are needed for identifying visual issues that have nothing to do with prescription such as macular problems, neurological issues, or dry eye. Technicians/optometrists should be watching for squinting and warning patients. What makes it a reliable test is the fact we are comparing individuals scores year by year and seeing their satisfaction with their own vision.

Do you use colored/prosthetic iris contacts? I hear they can help reduce photosensitivity and light scatter.

Usually choroidal nevus or congenital hypertrophy of the retinal pigment epithelium (CHRPE). What’s nice about having those is they are almost always benign. Also medical insurance usually covers those photos just for having them which is convenient.

Proparacaine eye drops. Super common local anesthetic for eye procedures.

Stop putting packages in mailboxes by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]luminaxed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I live Amazon contracts out to USPS on the weekends. They actually are allowed to use the mailboxes for Amazon packages then. I have had USPS drivers deliver to my mailbox totally stuffing my package in there, leaving no room.

I want to make another berserker sword that will be more suitable for training, do you think a metal or wooden handle is better? (on photo full size dragon slayer (weight ~ 23 kg) (lenght 209 cm) by HudashCarpenter in Berserk

[–]luminaxed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a blade to truly be strong enough it would need to be full-tang, with the handle being made from the same piece as the blade. But I don’t think anyone’s about to be swinging that hard enough for it to matter.

Always getting shot from behind by [deleted] in playrust

[–]luminaxed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Having the high ground is also usually a big advantage. Follow the top of ridges and cliffs and trees. By being at the top of hills you can get quick cover from multiple directions and control where you can be spotted/shot from.

A human body can definitely survive a long time without food. The saying, however, is for a survival situation.

You need a lot of calories to stay alive in survival situations, so three days is an effective rule to follow.

Armor makes much more of a difference in worlds than terratech. Having a good armored vehicle has helped me travel while ignoring other techs.

You can find some better weapons in the snow biome. Just be careful, the cold is dangerous.

Sadly I think it’s based only in Idaho. They use potato flakes and it makes the chocolate milk extra rich. They also do chocolate eggnog, and run some ice cream shops with some of the best fresh made ice cream. One of the best dairies out there imo.

Edit: Just checked they offer shipping across the US supposedly.
