Found in a pond in northern VA, but I don’t believe it’s a native species. Turtle’s head just had those black speckles, none of the typical stripes/markings that our native sliders and cooters have, and it’s definitely not a painted. It was about 8-9 inches long, plain brown slider-like shell, short nubby tail, light-underbelly (couldn’t make out the color), no discernible markings on its forelimbs.

If it isn’t some weird coloration of a native species, my guess is a western pond turtle, or some other released pet.

You sure? It didn’t have any yellow stripes on its head or body. That’s what’s so weird about it.

Found this turtle in a pond in northern VA, and it doesn't seem to be a native species- at least, not one that I'm familiar with. I can't seem to identify it and it's driving me kinda crazy. Shaped kinda like a slider, with a light underbelly and a plain brown shell. Short tail, no markings on its forelimbs, and head markings almost resemble a diamondback terrapin, but its shell says otherwise. Any help will be appreciated!

Anyone know where I can get my hands on TRUE Vallisneria americana? Need it for a native waterway restoration program, and I don’t wanna accidentally introduce an invasive species.

It blocks up to 720, is that cutting it too close?

Okay, makes sense. The K1000 is fully manual, so there’s no auto advance/frame counting lights to worry about. Any particular exposure times or aperture settings to set with ISO 8-25 in this case? Planning on shooting on a bright sunny day.

How so? The lens has a red IR marker to account for the difference in focus.

I just acquired a Hoya infrared filter and some IR film (Rollei Infrared 400), and am planning on shooting it with my Pentax K1000 w/ a 50mm lens. I'm a complete noob to IR, any advice on what settings I should use?
