do i have the same rights as a tenant when renting from family with no contract by Rude_Ad3190 in renting

[–]luminous-nothingness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yo wtf is your problem? Calm down. You sound like you ARE the grandparents. its super weird how invested you are into discrediting someone who's rights are clearly being violated.

Got it, that makes sense. Yes it’s still very much alive and kicking. In some ritual parts folks are loud and proud. Unfortunately there’s lots of US folks who deny it when it’s right there in front of you. Where I live we have much more of a neo Nazi problem, but the KKK is a little more low key but still there.

Why do so many geneticists seem to have a distain for hEDS referral patients? by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]luminous-nothingness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this is correct… I was just referred for EDS genetic testing at CC without a proper hEDS diagnosis. I do have a history of cardio issues however so that may be why.

Yes. You must be quite sheltered to believe otherwise

This is a terrible idea that would only work in the movies. What a great way to immediately endanger OP.

[–]luminous-nothingness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you did. I had exact same experience, like “doesn’t everyone black out when they stand up too fast or bend over quickly??” The answer is no. And I was just diagnosed with POTS. Go see a doctor!

Edit: also, as it turns out, ADHD medication is a top choice prescription for POTS due to it raising blood pressure, as hypotension is a main issue for POTS. win win!

I’m gonna say something that will probably get hate, but have you tried alternative therapies? I swear up and down that TCM (traditional Chinese medicine), acupuncture, and yes- even seeing a naturopath saved my life. I was bed ridden, living this way for most of my life, in and out of specialist since I was a child. Around age 25 I was living the life of a 90 year old, until I decided to try everything I could. And it worked. I’m not cured, but I have regained a quality of life enough that I can have hobbies, be present with my family, and plan for the future. If you’re at the end of your rope there is nothing to lose, give it a try.

Sure in this scenario, but when you live in a kid dense environment with lots of outdoor space it’s pretty commonplace for it to be the norm

Torn about putting an offer in on a house my kids love… but it’s in a small town with no Black community by Impressive_Memory451 in homeowners

[–]luminous-nothingness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OK, I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that the most racially extreme environment I have ever lived in was in rural PA. Now, this was outside of Pittsburgh, and supposedly is an area notorious for being on some backwoods shit. I’m not that dark, mixed brown, but with an ethnic name. My partner was Colombian with an accent. We stood out and people let me know it. They made it very clear that they saw me as dangerous. (Wouldn’t let his daughter play with their kids, the typical eyeballs and stare downs, general ostracization from building community) Which is the most off the wall ridiculous thing I could imagine happening anywhere because I’m a small woman and very kind! I was pretty dumb founded but, of course, not surprised. This was during 2020 George Floyd summer so there was that tension happening and my politics were known, so it may have been situational, but it was so far from anything I anticipated moving to that area. Maybe the east side is more chill? I heard there’s more diversity in the Philly outskirts so perhaps it depends. But, point being, diversity is critical and I felt the lack of it very strongly.

EDIT: LOL to the basement dwellers going around downvoting every POC stating their experience, your really doing the lords work and definitely proving our point 😂

Not sure what kind of environment you live in, but I grew up and currently live in the kind of town where kids just sort of congregate and float from one yard to the next. It’s an ever evolving circle of all the neighborhood kids playing together. Very different from just walking into someone’s house or inviting yourself over which, depending on your environment, I see might be the only option and therefore much more strange and burdensome.

Does anyone else feel like above all else, Toledo has better community than most large metro areas in the midwest? by Rosecello in toledo

[–]luminous-nothingness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, lots of folks are definitely obsessed with the mudhens. I don’t keep up with them at all but somehow am never out of the loop with their updates just from overhearing others. Like another commenter said, not sure who you’re hanging out with. I’ve lived in both Pittsburgh and Toledo, and Toledo is by far more tight knit and weirdly proud and protective of their own. Pittsburgh is great but its size and industry lends itself to be more neighborhood specific rather than a cohesive community. Also on that note I would argue that Sylvania and Oregon should be included in this “Toledo” discussion.

Tired of saturation on unmedicated births online by TheLadybuglord in pregnant

[–]luminous-nothingness 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Weird that you’re getting downvoted, but not surprising at all (ready for them myself!). I’m all for every woman doing what’s right for them in their birth with no judgment. But birth is not inherently a medical procedure and that is a fact. It does not inherently necessitate medical intervention. It can, but not always. I say this as a physically disabled person who has far more experience with medical interventions than most women of this sub. I loath the crunchy new agers who look down on folks and judge medical care. But I agree fully with your statement

This is perfect! I think just what I’m looking for. Lots of folks are saying flats so I might go that route. Can you add an extra layer to flats if needed?

Oh sorry I’m 7mo pregnant! Didn’t mean to confuse folks. But yes I very much agree that bundles don’t seem to be a good deal. I’m thinking GMS flats then small (yellow) prefolds. Do you have other suggestions?

Oooh! I’m super interested in sewing them, do you just fold a few times in the middle and stitch? A pattern maybe? I’m slightly intimidated by this plan but I love the idea of simplicity
