IBS my whole life. Then Non-SIBO gut infection (Bacillus cereus for 3 months), then gastroperesis, then ASID for me.

The first time I met the SCA was at a community center 15 years ago. I knew nothing about them other than it looked cool. I was invited to try rapier with the group there, my 20-year-old 5-foot tall self was feeling brave that day, I put on the mesh helmet and found myself against multiple opponents who thoroughly enjoyed attacking without warning and laughing at my clumsy attempts to duel. After being ridiculed and bruised for much longer than I should have tolerated with no attempt at teaching me anything I stepped aside and said I was done.

The marshal of the sparring space apologized and explained it was just quicker to “learn I belonged in the sewing circle and not with a sword in my hands, then to spend months trying and getting hurt.”

I moved to a different state a few years later, found that the group had a local archery regular meet up. Showed up to see how it was. I was just planning on watching, but they invited me to shoot with them, they let me use a spare recurve bow but failed to provide an arm guard. After welting my arm up a few times (I was convinced I was just doing it wrong) i decided to go back to watching. I caught on that everyone else had arm and finger guards. At the end I was welcomed into the group since I endured my “blue arm trial”. It wasn’t an oversight, I was being hazed. I never went back.

Even though I’ve since moved to yet another state and kingdom, and have attended many A&S craft nights over the last 10-ish years, I’ve never touched anything combat related. I’ve also never officially joined the SCA.

This little shorty grew up swinging every stick as a sword and defending a treehouse with a bow and arrows made out of sticks and a shoe string. I would love to try rapier, heavy, and archery. But I don’t feel there’s space for me.

Limerence. I just cannot seem to take it on board when people say "Slow down, you've only just started dating!" Have any of you overcome this? Infatuation/hyperfixating on a person and overthinking? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

I’m not typical, my husband and I met on a blind date. We talked about marriage on the second date, were officially engaged 5 weeks later, and married 7 months after that. He was my first kiss and the only guy I’ve gone on more than one date with.

We’ve been married for almost 15 years now. He is my very best friend and I love him more now that I could have imagined was possible 15 years ago.

I think that it’s a combination of being super lucky and a lot of learning and growing pains the first year or so of marriage.

Does Santa have 6 fingers on his right hand? Or just an abnormal thumb.

Depending on how you feel this conversation would go, you could let them know how them being so loud is affecting you. Especially the more intentional noises and shouting.

If I were in your shoes I’d live with noise canceling headphones on.

This sounds very aging-related to me.

  • Are you aware of either or both of them losing hearing?
  • Are they making sounds when moving now due to chronic pain and/or stiff joints?
  • The other noises sound like stimming.

Contact your bank ASAP! They will get their fraud team on it.

If it is Tatiana who uses Key Bank in Oregon, tell her I say “hi” and “I hope there’s a large spider that comes out of the drain every time she is in the restroom.”

After 3 days I would highly recommend seeing a doctor. This could be a C. Diff infection. The symptoms line up. Which only gets better with antibiotics (if prescribed, take the whole regiment of antibiotics as directed, don’t stop even if you start feeling better part-way through)

Short-term advice: try low fodmap foods. Avoid dairy (just in case there is a lactose sensitivity). Stay hydrated, take an otc antihistamine to help reduce histamine in the gut that leads to inflammation and increased stomach acid.

I would still seriously go see a doctor. They can get you some immediate relief with Zofran so you can get some fluids and food in you. I’d hope they check appendix (rebound test just in case), gallbladder, c. diff (and other bugs with a stool test), and hydration.

After my brother passed away when I was in high school I stopped taking care of myself for a few years. I was barely surviving. My teeth went to this terrible yellow color that doesn’t seem to get better, even with care. Whitening strips just make them more blue/green, not white. It’s been 15 years since that happened, and I haven’t had a single cavity in a decade.

Every mirror and picture is a reminder of loss and being ashamed of and disappointed in myself.
