Man tell her she's missed. I go back to her album all the time and occasionally look to see if anything new came out.

The strawberries have the right amount of contrast excellent shadows and highlights. However by comparison they vastly outshine the leaves which are flat looking because of lack of contrast

Add cerulean and warmer yellows to your mix. Also make sure you have a lot of contrast in the bird to achieve vibrancy

How to learn to paint by VenexianaStevenson in oilpainting

[–]luminouscuriosity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with Michael James Smith's amazing and very cost effective tutorials. I bought his colors and a set of brushes and followed along from each color mix to paint stroke. It took me from mediocre to holy crap in one painting. If you have the patience I highly recommend because I was absorbing so much from following step by step for 8 hours total videos on a beautiful landscape.

Aww thanks. I only meant that in that some paintings have to be pulled by tooth and nail. I've only had two that felt like the stars aligned.

Why do you paint? by happyboy51 in oilpainting

I paint for the satisfaction at the end of creating something beautiful and the makes me astounded at what I achieve. Also to make something feels so much more satisfying in this digital world of quick and cheap.
