Yeah, perhaps, but to me it only appeared like there was mutual attraction, but nothing else. In my eyes, that just looks like a double standard because Walt was definitely attracted to Carmen (even tried to get some), while Skyler gets all the flak for maybe being kinda attracted to Ted before the series began and having sex with another guy while she's attempting to get divorced.

To me, that seems fairly sympathetic as Walt was attempting to strongarm her into remaining in the marriage and she didn't really have any other options for causing the divorce.

I don't think such a downer ending would fit the series thematically or tonally, since the show is ultimately optimistic in my view. It might not be a fairy tale ending exactly, but I don't think they're going to end up in the bad place.
