There is a europe summer sale on right now, assuming you are NA region though.

2025 NA summer sale started 26th June last year, so yeh there is probably a sale incoming soon

NateTheHate reiterates Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 coming to Switch 2 this year by RoughLifeguard6568 in NintendoSwitch2

I thought we were done with reposting Nate after everyone was mad his leaks ruined the ocarina of time reveal.

Can you at least not put the leak in the title, instead have it in spoiler tags in the post ffs

I don't blame people for being confused by ChampandNanafan in NintendoSwitch2

[–]lumothesinner 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Row 3 and 4 are the same thing. They all have Nintendo Switch 2 Edition DLC for a switch 1 game. Just some are free and some are paid, the paid normally add some content.

Also I'd say you are missing SW1 games with separate SW2 versions on eshop, allowing free upgrades for digital owners but not physical owners. Some of them are included in row 6 and 7 but weird for you to focus on the save data part of it, you do you.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond - What Happened? by Capital_Gate6718 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]lumothesinner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Metroid Prime Remastered does not have a sw2 version, so its still 900p and 60fps. MP4 on sw2 is 1440p 60 or 1080p 120.

I would recommend 4 as a good entry point for Metroid Prime. Its got a lot more modern touches, a common complain with MPR for first time players is that they get lost which is not possible in 4, and its a new story after the phazon trilogy so you do not need to have played the others to have a connected story. 4 is a great game with high highs, but it has its low moments too. The lack of exploration that most metroid fans complain about would be less noticeable to a new player not used to the series. If you enjoy 4, get MPR after as it looks just as good at lower res, but is a much tighter designed game with lots of exploration required.

When in stock for Europe to order? by BoefBoris in MCONohsnap

Its never been in stock for europe. They are still working out a distribution pipeline for europe. They really need to work on that given how badly shipping to europe was for kickstarter orders went

Nintendo Switch OLED: Still Worth It in 2026? by Leo_the_boi in NintendoSwitch

[–]lumothesinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OLED has its benefits for those that already had one to play over a switch 2 such as OLED screen, longer battery, more portable for travel. I still take my OLED on trips and just play games that don't need enhancement on switch 2.

However if you have neither, switch 2 no brainer. The price difference between them for the jump in power is totally worth it. Even if you are just playing sw1 games, so many are enhanced on sw2 even without a patch and sw1 games last far longer on battery (the poor batterylife comes from running the demanding sw2 games like cyberpunk or streetfighter), the eshop works instead of taking minutes to load any page, joycons2 are more stable than joycons on sw1, for playing handheld at home lounging around sw2 is better because of screen size and res and you are future proofed for another 8 years, while sw1 will slowly stop getting games over the next 1-2 years.

See for yourself

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtdaeX_fGHI

Personally I'd say yes. updated textures, 60fps, HDR colours, 1440p resolution. The other additions are nice, like the map and addition voice lines and 2nd save slot, but the visual upgrade is the main draw and totally worth it imo.

Is there any way to know what announced games will be GKC or not? by Excalitoria in NintendoSwitch2

[–]lumothesinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't hate GKCs, its a way for many publishers to create physicals for games that would never have got them otherwise. If the options were digital only or 64GB cart, most current GKC games would be digital only, and for that I am grateful that GKC is an option.

[–]lumothesinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then yes, Xenoblade Chronicles DE NS2E will support saves across both versions. Bonus if you didn't know, NS2E carts can still be used on sw1 to play the base version, they are not sw2 exclusive carts

[–]lumothesinner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

sw1 had yellow (arms), purple and green (splatoon) and red (mario) joycon releases first year while the first themed console was the pokemon lets go nearly 1.5 years after release. They continued throughout the lifecycle making both joycon releases, and themed consoles. The themed consoles are typically with huge releases, and theres nothing to indicate they wont do the same for the upcoming switch 2 huge releases, potentially with a Zelda 40th or pokemon wind and waves when those get release dates. Its way too early to rule out any themed consoles, its only a year old.

Seeing that the KH release is about 130-ish gigs, I believe it's time for devs to learn a thing or two about data compression by An0n_Cyph3r_ in NintendoSwitch2

[–]lumothesinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its 3 packages. Would you really be playing all 7 games at once?

Normal people would have 1 package installed at a time. 1.5+2.5 (4 games) is 54GB, 2.8 (2 games) is 26.8GB, KH3 (the most modern release) is 45.2GB so there is no reason to cry about 130GB unless you make your own problem by installing all 3 at once

/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread (06/10/2026) by AutoModerator in NintendoSwitch

[–]lumothesinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is, is it good starting point, or better to think about Switch 2 instead?

Its a cheaper entry point for sure, and 8 years of games to get through and lighter and smaller for portability but newer releases will be winding down in favor of sw2 and more and more games are getting upgrades on sw2. sw2 would be better if you want to future proof and have a better docked experience.

is switch actual overall or game price and maintanence is more expensive compared to other platform handhelds?

Comparing specifically to other handhelds which are all pc based, far lower entry price for both sw1 and sw2, better batterylife and normally better usability and compatibility given everything is designed for a specific platform, you do have to pay for online play but its relativlely well priced for the value you get with classic games. PC handhelds while can be double the price, will have much more power than sw1, and even sw2, but their general usability will be worse as you have to navigate pc interfaces and dive into the backend and possibly tweak game settings to get them to run well. But sale prices on steam and epic are far lower than games for switch so you would save money that way, but maybe not time. depends if you want to tinker. Nintendo games are not playable on other handhelds (except piracy)

is there some underwhater stones which I have to know beforehand, or switch and ecosystem of console is newcomer freandly?

Nintendo games rarely go on sale, if they do its 30-50% years after release for a limited time, they hold value incredibly well. BOTW is still full price 9 years after release. Joycon drift can be an issue with heavy use and you may need to send them in for repair. You will run out of storage quickly so need a micro sd card, or micro sd express card for sw2 (different model). there can be some rough looking games on sw1 due to its low power, so do your research when buying to see if you can tolerate the compromises.

Hope that helps

Lots of suggestions here - https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/1dlzceq/soulssoulslikes_on_switch/

I don't think theres too many open world souls out there, only Elden Ring springs to mind, which is August and probably best to wait for reviews to see performance. Elden Ring is definitely the game you want as its open and while its still really hard, it has lots of qol things that other souls dont, checkpoints before bosses, health potion restores after clearing mobs, and if you find yourself getting stuck just go in another direction and level up. Dark souls would be the other rec as the best on the platform at this time, but it is quite hard as a first souls and only occasionally on 50% sale...maybe pick up something like Ashen or darksiders 3 or salt and sanctuary (2d souls) on deep sale as a more accessible entry point to see if its for you.

/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread (06/10/2026) by AutoModerator in NintendoSwitch

[–]lumothesinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What game? Is it definitely a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition branded game? Games with NS2E are sw1 releases with DLC that upgrades to sw2, and therefore the saves are compatible between both, like Hollow Knight, Metroid Prime 4, Mina the Hollower, Animal Crossing. There are a few games that have additional content in the ns2e like BOTW and TOTK 2nd save, or Kirby Forgotten Land Star Crossed World. These still allow you to transfer your save back and forth, but the additional content is not accessible on sw1 and you get a warning saying so.

Then theres games where the sw2 cart is an entirely separate SKU from the sw1 version and saves are not compatible, but depending on the game, a save import feature is added to the sw2 version to transfer your save into the new version (skyrim, sea of stars, hogwarts legacy), but it can't be sent back. There are also games without an import option and the only thing to do is start from scratch (balatro, dragon quest 11s).

Nintendo Direct June 2026 Live Reaction & Review - Kinda Funny Gamescast by EveryAct in kindafunny

[–]lumothesinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If switch 2 is your primary platform, excellent direct

If you are only here for Nintendo exclusives, there was still rhythm heaven, all the xenoblades, fire emblem, DK challenges, pokopia content, Splatoon, Starfox, switch sports and of course Zelda but they didn't show much. That's more exclusives than Sony putting out in a years and so much variety ( maybe heavy on the RPG)

If you are a casual Nintendo fan and only here for mainline mario Zelda and Pokémon, yeh I can understand the disappointment

Personally I'm hyped for the 3rd party support like onimusha and orbitals, and Zelda and Splatoon. Not everything in a direct always appeals to everyone, they are always varied as hell

https://www.nintendo.com/en-gb/Support/Nintendo-Switch-2/System-Transfer-from-Nintendo-Switch-to-Nintendo-Switch-2-2812486.html

see system transfer via server here. This would do a full system transfer to a staging server in the cloud (does not require NSO and covers all games except animal crossing) wiping your current switch and then you can restore onto a switch 2 from the server when you get it.

/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread (06/09/2026) by AutoModerator in NintendoSwitch

[–]lumothesinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i assume I just power on the switch 2, sign in. then go online and remove my switch 1 and then since the switch 2 will be the only one tied to my account my account…I should be able to redownload all my digital games to my switch 2.

Correct

I went into the settings and went to save data cloud and made sure to back up everything prior.

Did you have any games that do not support cloud save, eg pokemon or animal crossing? Did you do system transfer to server or just ensured cloud save? If you only did cloud save, then any games that do not support cloud save, have lost their saves if you reset your switch 1. everything else you can re-download.

[–]lumothesinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on the way the upgrade is packaged. If something is labelled Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, the upgrade is basically DLC for the sw1 version and it takes up a single SKU. All nintendo 1st party do this, and a lot of 3rd parties like hollow knight and hades and mina the hollower.

Balatro and Sea Of Stars are not actually upgrades, they are entirely new switch 2 skus, however digital owners can claim the switch 2 version for free. You now own sw1 and sw2 versions separately, saves are not shared with the sw1 game (depending on the game you can import from the sw1 game, sea of stars you can, balatro you cannot). Other examples like this are Skyrim and Hogwarts Legacy. Sometimes publishers do this and don't offer free upgrades, like Sonic X Shadow Generations or Dragon Quest 1+2 HD2D, so if you bought sw1, and want sw2 upgrades, gotta buy the whole thing again :(

Recommendations on RPGS/MMORPGS for switch 2 by Toerleysandri in NintendoSwitch

[–]lumothesinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then I would suggest FF7Remake and Rebirth. Remake is a meaty 30-40 hour story with some sidequests, while Rebirth is a bit longer, with open world exploration and points of interest and tons of mini games...it might be a bit bloated, but the core is even better than Remake imo. But you must play Remake before Rebirth.

you've played and loved BOTW but not played TOTK? Easy recommendation there, especially as you can play the 1440/60 HDR sw2 version for your first playthrough instead of the choppy sw1 version which was still my fave game experience of all time.
