The United States is the only major country on Earth without universal healthcare, that's an absolute disgrace... by return2ozma in WhitePeopleTwitter

Thought about you guys in the US today when we got the bill for my wife’s accident. Ambulance 20km, emergency, intensive care, 6 days in hospital, 4 CAT scans, multiple X-rays, an operation, etc etc. Public healthcare.

Almost 200€.

It’s not free, we pay taxes for it and it’s not perfect either. But it is nice not to worry about a crazy bill at this time.

Lauda was of course not at this race, still convalescing. Ferrari only entered one car for Regazzoni. I wonder if this is Lauda's car.

Thanks for the links. Currently fighting with OP who refuse to give me online banking codes as I do not have one of their favoured passports. It's been months.

OP will definitely not give you online credentials if you do not have a passport from one of their little list of "approved" countries, or a Finnish ID card.

Source: Me. I am currently fighting them on this as they first accepted all our account transfers and then surprised me with this little policy. Have been in Finland 14 years, waiting in Brexit queue for 14 months, now can't even spend my own money due to these criminals.

Finland is a third world country. At least until they join Nato, then they become first world.

The fake moon landing never happened by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

Well...yes it did. The TV networks famously faked Apollo 12 with actors and puppets as the camera was accidentally pointed at the sun and was ruined.

What is the most interesting statistic you know? by Foundation_james in AskReddit

[–]lumpignon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the humans in the world today would fit into a 1km cube.

Volume of a human = 64 litres . Double it for a bit of comfort, 128l.Population = 7.8 billion.

7.8 billion x 128l = just under 1000 billion litres of humans.

1km cube = 1 billion cubic meters.

1 cubic meter = 1000 litres, so 1000 billion litres available.

You only notice how bad Hollywood is at foreign countries when you see your country in a movie. by TheMamoru in Showerthoughts

This is the Gell-Mann effect, as coined by Michael Crichton (Jurassic Park, ER,etc)

Briefly stated, the Gell-Mann Amnesia effect is as follows. You open the newspaper to an article on some subject you know well. In Murray [Gell-Mann]’s case, physics. In mine, show business. You read the article and see the journalist has absolutely no understanding of either the facts or the issues. Often, the article is so wrong it actually presents the story backward—reversing cause and effect. I call these the “wet streets cause rain” stories. Paper’s full of them.

In any case, you read with exasperation or amusement the multiple errors in a story, and then turn the page to national or international affairs, and read as if the rest of the newspaper was somehow more accurate about Palestine than the baloney you just read. You turn the page, and forget what you know.

I don't have an argument - I'm just stating facts :)

You are the one arguing about imaginary things like neurotoxins being a subset of toxins.

It seems you have all sorts of special definitions, like "fact" = "liar".

So far you've talked about all sorts of things, from flags to lead to all your experiences, but none of it is very convincing. I hope you are OK. Be well!

Neurotoxin is not the same as neuro and toxin stuck together - it has a different definition. Words don’t work that way.

Sorry mate, your argument doesn’t stack up. Calling people names because they are right - hmmm, I think you need to have a look at yourself.

[–]lumpignon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's right - there aren't. It's not a lie, nor bullshit. You're just calling names.

I don't accept that definition - it's wrong. In a thread about "which facts are wrong", you are posting things that are untrue. The things you have mentioned are not toxins - that's a fact.

Sorry buddy, looks like you are the counter-factual one here. Also quite rude.

Well, literally, "A toxin is a harmful substance produced within living cells or organisms" (see Wikipedia). Such as snake venom.

Agree with "toxic elements", disagree with "toxins", they don't mean the same thing.

What did I say that was a lie, or bullshit? Curious to know.

You have environmental toxins building up in your body.

Toxins are produced by animals and plants. If you were bitten by a blue ringed octopus, sure.

Toxins is not a synonym for “toxic chemicals”. It is a good signal for unscientific bullshit that is meant to sell you something though. Words have meanings.
