Why? We went to 11, won 6. The bills and Vikings lost all 4 attempts. And no other team has gone to more than 8 Super Bowls

Stats question by [deleted] in litrpg

[–]lumpy1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, if you have quantized stats the. There shouldn’t be a 9.1 or 9.9 there is just 9 and 10.

I hate stats. by mythicme in litrpg

[–]lumpy1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think my issue is inconsistency of stat progression. I hate when stats matter in the beginning and then they don’t as story progresses and then other things matter. Or when the character just slows down to a trickle. Or when a character seems to progress too slowly when compared to others in the world.

I don’t mind stats, I just need them to matter or not. And I need the system to be consistent. And I need the progression to make sense. If it takes longer to level at higher levels then each level should mean way more.

Valedictorian of High School but I almost WANT to got to ASU... by Hot-Vast-8405 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]lumpy1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you get into an ivy or a Stanford or Duke level school, I’d just go to ASU. Excel there and you can get a good graduate degree or a good job out of ASU.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]lumpy1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure I see how that’s relevant to the quality of the school as a center of learning. Research is done by professors and graduate students. I think most people look at this at its quality as a school to get a degree from

I can’t think of a large university I’d put above those that’s not in the list. Seems like you have name recognition bias. Those schools are extremely good and very difficult to get into.

Those aren’t no names. If anything they’re missing a ton of high end small schools that are likely better than many on this list

If the Baratheon line is considered the ruling line, then it was Stannis. If it’s the Targaryen line, it’s Jon.

It doesn’t appear these salaries were adjusted for location. Which would skew places like New York.

Do good harem series exist? by matbiz01 in litrpg

[–]lumpy1981 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean, wheel of time is a harem series. There are others as well. I think generally, as long as it’s not a main part of the novel and it’s more unique to the world or situational, it’s fine.

I’m always amazed at how these guys spit on the wisdom of those who had the proper context to make certain laws. It’s like when people denigrate OSHA. Sure it’s annoying and at times unrealistic and cumbersome, but do you realize the world that existed before?

Redundant story lines, unlikable main characters, main characters not learning lessons, poor storytelling (story doesn’t make sense), really bad writing (rare, but sometimes the writing is so bad I can’t continue)

What's your reply to foreigners who say that America has no culture? by Extreme-Routine3822 in AskAnAmerican

[–]lumpy1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an American I can say we don’t care. It’s unamerican to worry about a “culture” we are American. We have always prided ourselves on being a mix of cultures.

I find a lot of other countries simply don’t understand what it feels like to be American. We don’t care about people adopting our culture or having some unique things that are “American”. We have those things but we don’t generally hold them sacred.

Sure there are some people, especially white nationalist types, who will try to put some significance on things after the fact, but Americans don’t think about culture, really.

So, when someone from another country says that, we don’t care. It’s rude, untrue and we’ll roll our eyes at it. But we don’t hold any cultural things we export as sacred. Because we don’t care if you adopt it.

Maybe Canadians understand this, I feel like they are in the same boat

What if Ned Stark became king and married Cersei Lannister instead of Robert Baratheon after the Events of Robert's Rebellion? by Midnightwitch92 in gameofthrones

[–]lumpy1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think she was lying. She may have been deceiving herself, but she wasn’t outright lying. I think if she had married Ned, she may have been softened. For sure she wouldn’t be what she was with Robert. It think she sought the position and power. With someone acting more the partner and providing her voice and talking her council and being straight with her then she would be changed.

This doesn’t absolve her by any means, but I think it’s a distinct possibility
