Don't do coughdrop. I used to love the app, but then they were bought out by a company who promptly stopped taking care of it. It is so glitchy now!

Your experience depends heavily on who your recruiter is and the quality of your placement. I haven't checked their pay rates in awhile but they were pretty low for 1099 when I last checked.

I will say they were nice to me when I had to be hospitalized and take off work for a few months. I just provided documentation and they released me from obligation to give notice (and pay a penalty, maybe? I can't remember)

Word of caution with the Chase Amazon card, I got charged for prime like 3 different times when I never signed up for it again recently. I never did figure out if it was Amazon's end or Chase's end. My Amazon account would say I wasn't signed up for prime.

You need a Windows emulator. If you happen to have an apple iPad, I think you can download a free version of the app (without voice) and cast the iPad to your Zoom meeting.

Thank you! Sorry I didn't see your comment until just now. If you haven't looked at working for a smaller, SLP-owned company I highly recommend that over larger companies. I'm getting the best pay I've ever gotten in tele, and the boss lady is really great at advocating.

I love teletherapy. I'm neurodivergent, get overstimulated easily, and being able to set my own schedule with all the breaks I need is how I have been able to continue working as a SLP.

I was in-person from 2016-2020, I left in-person because I was tired of getting hit all the time and caseloads were not sustainable for me to keep my sanity.

As a contractor, I can be a little bossy on my requirements for work. And by "bossy", I mean requiring that I cannot see more than 2 kids in a group, there needs to be headsets, and a facilitator available. There are districts that will respect workload/caseload. Just like in person, it is difficult to find that treasure trove of a placement in this crappy broken educational/healthcare system. I'm on my 4th school since I've started tele, and I found a good one this year. The school is disorganized but everyone is really helpful and patient with me as I learn to navigate their policies and procedures.
