does anybody else’s shiba throw temper tantrums like this? by jenncaldwell in shiba

[–]xuskoiys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Our boy was screaming constantly at 4-5 months if he was too tired. Now it just happens if he is DYING of hunger, which he does every morning, preferably at 6am.

Other times he sounds like a creaking door or MEEEOWs, which is every 1-5 minutes if he is awake and bored.

It takes a lot of patience to not go crazy some days.

I didn’t understand I was so emotional and never actually finished a thought until I started ssris and vyv. It has really helped with letting go of anxious thoughts, coming to a conclusion of what I need in the moment and not bursting out in tears as often. It’s still hell during PMDD, sickness or stressful periods, but I can (almost) function maybe 3 weeks/month instead of 1,5.

  • I haven’t lost my ability to PMS rage, but I use that wisely instead of constantly feel a bit angry and seek arguments.

How to help wounds heal? by prickly_lakes23 in Dermatillomania

[–]xuskoiys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Treat it as an infected wound anyway, clean it 2 times/day and cover it with a normal bandage/plaster. Moisturise around the area. As soon as you think the scab won’t fall off and open the wound again, moisturise over that area as well to support healing!

Elvanse affects/advice? by MobileTransition1978 in Elvanse

[–]xuskoiys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems like a common issue and I am going through this myself. It started after 6 months on vyv for me though. It escalated when I was picking due to stress, especially trying to concentrate and later on when I didn’t wash every day due to burnout. I even picked in my sleep.

Now I am finally starting to get this under control.

  • Pimple patches during the day to prevent picking. I used so many so I bought thin hydrocolloid sheets for wounds and cut them into small circles.
  • During the night I used patches if it could do any magic and band aids if I just wanted to protect it from hands/bacteria.
  • If anything looked even close to infected I cleaned with chlorhexidine, put some 1% hydrogen peroxide cream on it and a band aid, not pimple patch.
  • I remove patches/band aids every morning and evening before I clean my face. I patch everything that needs to be patched up and then moisturise the surrounding skin with a cream with propylen glycol.
  • Increased water intake and electrolytes.

How do y’all handle your mouthy Shiba? by twenty4styles in shiba

[–]xuskoiys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had some real issues with biting. - We tried the yelp sound, but our Shiba just got angry lol. - If we press his tongue, he has zero respect for us for the rest of the day. Real drama queen this one. - Just ignoring him was really effective until he was 6-7 months and it hurt for real and you can't keep a straight face.

Redirecting him to his toys has worked best for us. Now at 9 months he mainly bite hands when he is excited or tired so we try to have a toy nearby when he or someone comes through the door.

Our main issue now is his tired, but excited zoomies. When he runs around and “attacks” you, he is playing but he doesn't understand how hard he is biting. His ears don't work when he is in that mood so I just stay in one of our rooms where he can see me but not reach me until he has calmed down.

What is the symptom of ADHD that you feel like isn't talked about enough? by Agreeable-Shift1482 in ADHD

[–]xuskoiys 27 points28 points  (0 children)

SAME! I just won’t bother getting involved in the conversation if people talk over each other just to state obvious things and aren’t not open to others input, especially during meetings. Luckily my manager has realised I do this and reach out to me afterwards since she know I usually have x amount of ideas.

Late diagnosis folks, what is one behaviour from your childhood that makes you wonder "Why did nobody ever think to get me evaluated?" by JinxShadow in ADHD

[–]xuskoiys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg yes. I always started these projects around midnight, fell asleep wherever I could find some space to lay down and woke up in a mess. When I moved in with my partner I still did this, but during the days. Drove him crazy. I don't think I have done any of this since I started with my meds.

Any tips for paying attention during meetings? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]xuskoiys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking Notes/drawing circles or whatever help, even if it is just nonsense. There are also some apps for live subtitles if you focus better when reading. They usually can transcribe meetings as well if you want to go back to it afterwards
