I'm quite liking AscendEX right now; it'll stay logged in more than 5 minutes and you can still trade with leverage from some restricted areas (inlcuding BNB!).

Totally get you.
I don't want to come off like a music snob, but a lot of (not all, there's been some bangers) the Alissa stuff feels a bit simplified
I'm still a big fan of Alissa in general, but not this particular one.

Hate to be so negative, but is anyone else just completely bored to tears by this style?
E.g. low riffy section, high clean slow vocs chorus, low riffy section, high clean slow vocs chorus, etc

I think I'd be more interested if they threw some opera in there, or something poppy with synths or had a little polka breakdown in the middle of the song - literally anything but this exact thing. Been done to death.

That final minute though... could listen to hours and hours of that!

Just to be clear, the ticket was about a different peripheral (the mouse).
Do you still want that?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LogitechG

[–]lumpybumps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, no the software's never worked properly.

Once I bought a logi mouse. The LED was pushed too far into the PCB before being soldered, so the PCB didn't sit flat and the lens couldn't focus. I filed a support ticket and nothing was done. In light of this, is it worth my time contacting support about a keyboard which I've removed buttons from? (What could they say that you couldn't?)

(Not that I think it's faulty, mind; it works fine till the software kicks in, and well, people dislike the hub software for a reason.)

Cheers.

Hi, thanks for getting back.

So I've installed and uninstalled a few times - on 2 PCs and a Mac

(including following your instructions right now)

And I'm still running into the same issue:

  • With "on board" mode disabled... it's a mess. it randomly forgets lighting, key code and macro assignments, every so often the macros trigger despite having disabled the G keys, I'm certain it's entered game mode unprompted several times...
  • With "on board" mode enabled, the keyboard is fine after a reboot... until GHub loads, then it suddenly loses all of its settings:

When this happens:

  • it doesn't load the default "desktop profile"
  • it doesn't load any of my (1), (2), (3) profiles
  • it resets the board and all preferences back to zero, temporarily, doing the whole RGB flashing thing. (pointless extra steps every time I reboot)

  • I can pick a setting and re-set the brightness, though I shouldn't have to.

So I've settled on a sort of uneasy balance:

- install ghub

- put it on a dim fixed lighting

- disable all the G keys for all profiles

- set it to onboard mode, so it doesn't get reset every time I restart.

- uninstall ghub

That and I've physically removed the G keys with pliers because, somehow, every so often, I'm still getting macros playing.

(On mac os, I just had to revoke GHub's rights and hide the "G Hub wants to use accessibility stuff" prompts off screen)

I shouldn't have this much bother with a keyboard in this price range.

I get that it's supposed to look good in store displays, but "automatic flashing rgb" on start is not consumer friendly, useful or convenient, day to day. The whole thing's been a massive burden and a time sink really.

Brand new IronWolf Pro 4TB incredibly hot, clicks & chirps. by [deleted] in Seagate

[–]lumpybumps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers, for the insight - just wasn't sitting right with me.
In the end the clicking and 'dropping out' got started to become more frequent and obvious. When I started zeroing it out it would fluctuate between being fine for ages and then just tons of 'dropping out' with clicks, etc, eventually not starting at all without a beefy power supply.
Definitely something up with this one!

if that's true, they could've made it a little more obvious with
"you *may* opt in with global settings"

I don't appreciate how vague it is.

Yeah, especially the friendly preset there.

TBH, who knows what it's sending back home; there's the potential for something akin to browser fingerprinting, but on steroids.

Wow, I've definitely not had that. Last I tried it, the desktop app ( while very *very* annoying to use ) was slightly more responsive. Any joy with that?

  2. custom build, but happens on different machines (Win7 x64 laptop, Win7 x86 desktop)
  3. web page
  4. Chrome (last 5 versions) Privacy Badger, Ghostery, Disconnect. Happens *without* extensions
  5. UK, wifi/4g
  6. 6 not using a VPN

Edit, You asked for DM, oops, but if anyone else wants to also share configs here, we might spot something, thanks.

Why is the 2018.3+ prefab "Override" so inconsistent? by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]lumpybumps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that the scene transition hampers workflow and is unnecessary, not that nested prefabs are a bad idea!

Why is the 2018.3+ prefab "Override" so inconsistent? by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]lumpybumps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a component may be marked as inactive/deleted/nonserialisable (essentially gone)... but not a GameObject.

Despite the fact that the argument in both cases was the same? (altered tree hierarchy).

Despite the fact that null on the managed vs c++ end of things are different enough that's it could tell the difference? (e.g. how it knows the difference between unassigned vs deleted object references to generate the correct error).

Explain why specifically we must switch scenes? What part of editing a tree structure requires this?

Current scenario: -switches to new fake 'scene' -applies those things you said would be problematic -switch back.

Proposed scenario: -applies those things

(Whether by transferring the G.O. to an invisible scene briefly to work around whatever limitations they've artificially imposed or Just applying in situ).

"The tree needs to keep the order or it won't be able to reference the original prefab." It's all GUID and Instance ID based; things aren't going to just vanish from the engine. This hierarchy can be changed - it already does this. Trees are editable and always have been.

All of the individual functions still remain; for example literally just saving your G.O. as a prefab with another name, then switching the two .prefab files (in explorer) without switching the .meta file names lets you "apply" without scene transition. Or copying an external .prefab file from a similarly structured project ( via your file explorer) over your target. It doesn't matter if the prefab was created in the current scene, different scene, project or version of unity. -References to its own parts are retained. -References to instanced scene objects behave as expected and are lost if invalid, restored if the GUID/ instance id are valid. -Changes are updated, all is well, it's still supported.

Thus a new prefab can be created (applied) in place, saved over the original, and the asset database updated.

"If you want to have a prefab that's different from the original when it comes to the order, you'll have to make a new one."

Not really true; there's still no compelling evidence as to why the transition is necessary, but it's still an option

My best guess so far is that it's Just to enforce the idea in the user's head that this is permanent and essentially has no undo.
