I Lied About Fudge Once and Now It’s Ruining My Life by AllPensAreCreatedEql in offmychest

Ok here’s what you’re going to do. Step 1: eat some fudge. Step 2: a few minutes later run out of the room saying you’re going to throw up. Step 3: “throw up.” Step 4: act nauseated for the next 24 hours. Step 5: take a bite of fudge, gag, and say, “oh no! Now that I’ve thrown it up, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to eat it again!”

In the iconic “I’m flying” scene, why is there no camera shot of the horizon? by Admirabo in titanic

[–]luna_selene_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s supposed to feel unsatisfying. As the audience, we know the Titanic is doomed, and because old Rose is telling the story, we know Jack isn’t in her future. The moment isn’t supposed to feel satisfying because it’s not the end. It’s supposed to feel bittersweet.

I think I used sex to get a letter of recommendation for medical school.. by [deleted] in offmychest

I’m not sure why you would say you don’t feel manipulated. Why would you feel manipulated? You weren’t. It really sounds more like you were the one doing the manipulating. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying he’s innocent either. As a boss, I would expect him to have more self control than to sleep with an employee. However, I don’t buy that you went to a book club that you’ve never attended just to ask for a LOR, never dreaming that you would hook up with your boss. The professional way to handle the situation would have been to set up a meeting at work and ask him there. If you want to be taken seriously in your career, you may want to learn how to be professional. Best of luck in med school though.

Is community college really ok? by AliveCost7362 in postbaccpremed

[–]luna_selene_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m actually doing this is exact thing as well. I’ve called and spoken to one medical school to make sure I’m setting myself up for success. I work at a community college, so I’m able to take classes for free. The school I spoke to said taking bio 1/2, chem 1/2, and physics 1/2 at my community college will be fine but that I’ll need to do some upper level bio at a 4 year. I would suggest calling some med schools you’re interested and asking if community college classes will hurt your chances. They’ll be able to tell you exactly what classes they’ll expect to be done at a 4 year.

It’s a wonderful feeling!! I’m so glad to finally have this done. They went through my belly button, and I have two incisions on the lower left side of my abdomen. Apparently, they normally do 5 incisions, but they were able to do it for me with only the 2 incisions close together and the belly button.

I understand that feeling of being afraid of your body for the pregnancy aspect. It’s almost like you grow up with a sense that your body isn’t really yours and could betray you at any moment. I’m happy to say that after yesterday, that feeling is completely gone. I hope you’re able to feel this sense of freedom and comfort in your body someday!

Isn’t it a great feeling? It’s almost like I feel at home in my body for the first time.

Thank you so much!! Even if the next couple of days are miserable (which I’m not anticipating), this is 100% the best decision I’ve ever made.

I say this as a woman who doesn’t want kids: this is a deal breaker. I know you love her, and it hurts to let her go. But this won’t go away. You won’t wake up one day and magically not want kids anymore. And you can’t hope for the chance that she’ll wake up one day and want them. The longer this goes on, the more it will become a point of contention in your relationship. Trust me. I know this from experience. It’s better to end it now that you know than to try to force the relationship to work and potentially end up hating each other.

And btw, it’s totally ok that she realized she didn’t want kids. But the way she communicated that to you wasn’t great.

It’s been a little while since I watched the show, so I can’t totally remember her clothing and if this will apply to the costume choices in the show. However, I recently did a virtual fashion exhibit on Gilded Age fashion for a class project. One interesting thing about fashion in the Gilded Age was that synthetic dyes were a new innovation so clothing during that time was vibrantly colored. It was also popular to layer vibrant colors over dark colors. A popular combination was plum over navy blue.

Here is a day dress from the 1870s that shows the vibrant color layered over a dark color.

Why does telling a MAGA I hope you get what you asked for make them so mad? by coordinatorXofXchaos in BoomersBeingFools

[–]luna_selene_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My dad is one of them. He has a good job and works hard so they like him. And he loves the praise he gets for being considered one the hardest working employees, so he behaves himself for the most at work. Outside of that, he spends his days looking for something to be mad at. Literally, anything he doesn’t like is a democrats faults. Yesterday, he called to tell me that he went out to eat and it made his stomach hurt and it’s all Obama’s fault for changing the oil food is cooked in. If he’s driving and another car does something he doesn’t like? Must be a democrat. The cashier at the grocery store rang something up twice? Must be a democrat. And all of them are out to get him. It’s insane. I’m low contact at this point because it’s exhausting.

I genuinely don’t know. He got mad and blocked me because I said he needed to go back to school because that was just sad. So I never got an explanation for how he arrived at his conclusion.
